"The fig tree was the big, generous presence in our old home, feeding my family and neighbours every summer," Stella shares. "When we moved to an apartment, we thought we had lost the fig tree. But my mum took a cutting and planted it at our new place. To our surprise, a small fig tree started growing again, as if it had never left."

Since its inception in 2023, Soul Quest Records has released some superbly deep and soulful records. To prove the point, the Hackney-based label has decided to serve up a compilation style EP featuring fresh cuts from current artists and new signings. Max Sinal joins forces with King Crowney and vocalist Liv East on the ultra-deep, super soulful warm-up sounds of 'Intentions', before Slxm Sol cannily combines loose-limbed drums, warming bass, sensitive chords, tactile Rhodes keys and soulful vocal snippets on 'NYBB'. Hitch 93 doffs a cap to Chez Damier on the excellent 'Uno Dos Tres Four', Rob Reckford delivers some bright MPC-house action ('Garden Party'), and Soul Grooves goes deep, gently dubby and spacey ('Blues Kitchen'). The gentle broken house sunniness of 'Edith' by Flying Moth completes a fine EP.

Titled ‘Transmission 96′ the new album features ten tracks which has us reminiscing on late night escapades and the dark lofty warehouses of our youth.

Two pioneers of the UK underground, Liftin’ Spirits has been at the forefront of jungle and drum n bass since the early 90’s with Dj Persuasion having earned his credentials as one of the most definitive dj’s in the scene from around the same time all the way up to the present.

There is a splendid air of nostalgia about this release – it sounds exactly as it should, channeling elements of the past alongside modern influences in a way which feels true to the rawness and rugged sensibilities of the genre.

This track is the lead single from the release – a dreamy affair with all the euphoric notes hitting in the right places. All underpinned by quintessential breaks and sounds which might have been lifted straight from an airfield or barn in the 90’s.

London-based electronic artist Sunden unveils his highly anticipated debut album, Minor Coda, a deeply personal exploration of therapy, catharsis, and the fluidity of human experience through the lens of leftfield club music. Set for release via Loose Lips, a label and club night recently celebrating a decade at the forefront of London’s underground scene, Minor Coda is a strikingly emotive collection of tracks that seamlessly weave intricate breakbeats, immersive soundscapes, and euphoric release. The album captures the turbulence of self-exploration, channeling it into a journey that is as introspective as it is primed for the dancefloor.

From the skittering rhythms and fluctuating dynamics of Process, which encapsulates the disquiet of self-confrontation, to the dreamlike melancholy of Ish, evoking the solitude of late-night city wanderings, each track on Minor Coda tells a deeply human story. Guava returns to Faux Poly as the first artist to release a second EP on the label. Shifting gears into a faster, Techno-focused territory all whilst breaking up the EP with his immersive signature oscillating Dub-Techno-esque atmospherics. This new record is a departure from Afterglow, further embracing light and dark moods with a hypnotic intensity throughout that feels both urgent yet deeply considered.

This release opens a new chapter for Guava, as he embraces the weight and velocity of the dancefloor without sacrificing his signature playfulness. The result is a dynamic, high-energy follow-up that solidifies his evolving sound making ’All Out’ the perfect next step for both the artist and the label.

Words from Guava:

"This record was written in a flow state. For me, it was the most enjoyable EP I’ve made, and I think you can hear that in the music. It came about due to a slight shift in mindset regarding the creative process. I started by making an Ableton template as a way to limit my options. I spent a couple of days trying to nail a sound - referencing and experimenting with different instruments. I would then set a timer and “mess up” what I had created. The deal was that I could do anything I wanted.

This approach was a game-changer for me because it created a cohesive sound across all the tracks. A lot of my process was inspired by one of my heroes, Alexander Rodchenko, a photographer and graphic artist from the Soviet Union. What fascinated me most was the limitations he worked with - he didn’t have access to the fancy digital tools we use today. There was something about that constraint that I envied, and I wanted to bring a similar sense of restriction into my own creative process."
