One of the most highly anticipated artists of 2016, April Towers are set to make their return with epic new single Silent Fever released via LAB Records this April.
 
Despite only forming in August 2013, Alex Noble (vocals, guitars & keyboards) and Charlie Burley (production, samples, guitars & keyboards) have been hotly tipped by tastemakers across the country including; Line of Best Fit, DIY Magazine, Clash, Gigwise, Huw Stephens and BBC Introducing’s Dean Jackson.
 
After the release of their acclaimed single Modern Psyche late last year, the Nottingham lads immediately hit the studio with award winning, Aussie producer, Catherine Marks (Wolf Alice, Foals) to start work on their new EP Silent Fever. Drawing on the duo’s colourful spectrum of musical influences, the title track is musical hydration, as it combines light melodies with fulfilling bass tones and experimental synths.
 
This spring, the duo will be hitting the road in support of their new release. Having previously graced the stages of Dot to Dot, Tramlines, Lovebox and Ibiza it should come as no surprise that April Towers live show is not to be missed!
 
After a stunning 2015 expectations run high for the return of April Towers and there is no doubt that Silent Fever will live up to every one!

“Crook” was largely inspired by a strange situation that Andrew (the drummer) found himself in a few years ago, where he and his parents saw an assumed criminal being chased by police officers in central London.
According to Andy, the guy mocked him directly as he ran by for not having the courage to step in, which I found deeply funny - to literally be in the act of fleeing from the police, but still make time to critique other people’s moral fibre is quite an achievement. So, with that as a starting point, we started writing with the intention of exploring cowardice, fight or flight instinct, mob psychology; things like that. What came out was probably more of a self-evaluation than anything else.
Like the other songs on the EP, it has a few gentle references to the Gabriel García Márquez novel “One Hundred Years of Solitude”; a book that I read on and off while we wrote and recorded the EP (we recorded it ourselves in our warehouse rehearsal space rather than a studio, so the recording spanned a month or two). The book has the most beautiful imagery in it, and it’s very sad. I hope that at least a little bit of its atmosphere managed to sneak into the record.
The instrumental side of the song was the result of an intense session of playing and rewriting and restructuring as a full band, with some very un-rock-n’-roll discussion breaks. We have an ever-evolving songwriting dynamic really, but this song definitely instigated a move towards what is now a fiercely collaborative process. At this point we’re really quite reliant on each other in the way that we write; it sort of feels as if without one participant, the whole thing might disintegrate entirely

Electro pop duo April Towers release their new single 'Get Recovered' on Lab Records on 07 October. A staple track in their live shows, and co-produced by April Towers and electronic producer Ben Pearce, 'Get Recovered' is about getting yourself fixed after some bad times: "It is about saying enough is enough. Time to sort this mess out."

Now updated with powerful vocals from Elias, ‘Crescent (Running)’ closes out the release on an uplifting note as the instrumental gradually builds layers of chords and synth melodies over a soft bassline whilst Elias’ luscious tone evokes emotion.

“I had the original ‘Crescent’ laying on my desk for while before I knew what I wanted to say on it. When I finished writing the lyrics and listened back, I felt this emotion of pure honesty – something that I wanted to communicate in the first place. Swedish singer-songwriter Elias stormed into the scene in 2015 with the release of his debut EP ‘Warcry’ that received huge recognition. A member of the renowned Tensta Gospel Choir that has produced many of the nations most exciting talents including Lykke Li, Elias was selected as one of Spotify’s Spotlight artist of 2016.

Remaining impactful individually as well as part of the wider context – ‘Crescent (Running)’ encapsulates Ben’s most personal project to date.
