Even though the highly raved Crazy Rich Asians was the talk of the town this past summer, the film actually was just released in Asia not too long ago. So, as part of the launch of April Ladies Talk, we decided to open up the platform for an in-depth conversation on what CRA means to Asia versus the Asian diaspora with Youjin of April Magazine and Jessica of Project Voice. Our episode will highlight the critiques and praises as well as address what the significance of the film means to the hosts respectively. Does Crazy Rich Asians live up to its hype in Asia? Why is its screening considered an important milestone for Asian-Americans and other Asian diasporic communities around the world? Is it really a film that speaks to Asian-diasporic narratives?

We're back again with another seemingly cliche topic - K-beauty but with a twist at the end, an interview with some amazing women CEOs of rising NON-Korean Asian beauty brands! After all, there's more to the beauty industry than K-beauty. Having lived in Korea for the long term, Youjin and Jessica will jumpstart the conversation by sharing their personal skincare routine (are they doing the popular 10-step skincare routine that's so often brought up in Western mainstream media?). In addition to covering some of their favorite brands, our April Ladies will give a brief overview on today's beauty trends and topics in Asia (is there rising counterculture movement against Korean beauty trends?) as well as their personal takeaways from them.
