Never Spoke Hawaiian EP

Aqob's second mini album, following 2005's "Let Alone Be Gone", a 4 track release, with 2 added bonus tracks, all written and recorded, between 2006 and 2007. 

During the mixing sessions for the album, an electrical fire in the studio caused most of the original tracks, samples and synth patches to be lost. A few parts were recovered, allowing for the reconstruction of some of the pieces, and early renderings were used to fill what was missing. Many songs were lost, and only I can still hear them.

The final mastering was performed by Pete Namlook, who had a special hand in making this sound whole.

I wrote at the time: "This is an album about Love: Love felt, love lost, love sought, love found, and love made." So it may be.

This is a very unique song for Aqob. The original recordings and settings were lost, but the vocal track was almost miraculously recovered, and the track rebuilt around that. This is a later, quieter mix, but the recovered original mix can also be heard on the end of the album.



All Moving Over The Earth - A Kinder Bot Remix

Featured on the "Dog" promos, this is a new mix. A bed of gurgling sounds set the scene for introspective plucking synths and arpeggiated melodies, that push together towards a strong climax, without resolution. 


Such Longing

Even though this is a very early and rough mix of the track, I think it came out very well. Most of the instruments are played throughout, and a lot of credit goes to my trusted Korg Prophecy. 





A Seed

Also from the "dog" promos, "Ladywhite" was built around a sample of a stone worker, fixing the pavement on the street, while some birds sang in the background. It was a particularly quiet afternoon.
