Take a hit and dive into the sonic pleasures that await you across the ocean & beyond.   

Showcasing audio transmissions from friends, family & new connections from local seas, to oceans further afield.  Expand your horizons & immerse yourself on a euphoric journey through liquid joy.  

First up on the series is;  @instant_graham

A producer & DJ who’s currently residing in London. He started DJing while running DIY parties in Reading. He was active in a collective that held events in community centres, dilapidated clubs, and other underused spaces.  
Since then he has shifted focus to producing, experimenting with a range of sounds and genres. He combines tricksy sound design with extensive sampling to create tracks that evoke clubbing, dreaming, and nostalgic landscapes. 

This mix travells through feel good house, edgy electro, tasty UKG & nice dosage of tantilising trance  
Recorded in some spider infested space in South East London

Welcome to the second audio transmission of the Liquid Joy mix series! 
Introducing @lewys-morgan-3 a good friend of Aquatic Formations 

Lew is an up and coming DJ based out of Cardiff. Immersing himself in Welsh capital's tight-nit underground scene, Lew decided to dip his toe into the mixing side of things, presented in his Chunky Beats series on Soundcloud.

With plans to move to Bristol on the horizon, Lew plans on getting stuck into the scene on both sides of the bridge, looking to play parties and gain experience.

This Mix traverses through the realms of Prog House, Trance, and 90's Tech house, beginning with a bouncy feel, with selections progressing to more psychedelic realms throughout, transcending into some goa-licked Trance.

Wicked Tuna is a dutch DJ who started fishing for the more underground and progressive side of trance, house and minimal about 2 years ago. Quickly developing a taste and sharpening his teeth, he managed to play some parties in the Netherlands and do a monthly radio show on @komrad. 

This mix is a blend of trancey, techy and euphoric vibes from mainly UK and Australian producers and labels, both recent and old skool.

Bristol based, London born Hannd has been rummaging around the surrounding sounds around him since his teenage years. A keen lover of all things music, endlessly looking to expand and explore genre's open mindedly. Releasing on a variety of labels such as Pleasure In Mind, The Lab, Raw Paper, Canelura and more, with each release being an expansion of the producer and DJs style. Forming his own label Comma Traxx back in 2018 to further explore his love for the underground dance music scenes.

After a few months exploring the waters the Liquid Joy mix series is back with a mix from one of our favorite DJ's at the moment - @bethan_l ✨ 

Bethan is a DJ currently based in London, and can be regularly found playing at East London’s much loved queer venue, Dalston Superstore. Her style is not limited to one specific genre; she enjoys digging deep into her collection, playing a variety of 90s/early 2000s selections mixed with newer releases covering trance, acid, techno, breakbeat, golden era drum & bass and beyond, in order to take the listen on a journey through sonic history.

About the mix:

"This mix for Aquatic Formations traverses through downtempo electronica, atmospheric breaks and drum & bass. Most of the tracks in this mix are from vintage CD compilations (I am obsessed with the artwork & sounds from these eras) and I thought they were fitting for this lovely mix series."

For this examination, an intimate sound selection has been emitted from the lush lands of Excelsior Ruth, which fluctuates organically from the glowing wisp breaths of ambient-scapes, to the twisted nature of trance tree bumps. You will be sure to find some special noises here.

Frond aka Sophie is a South East London based DJ/producer and one of the co-founders of the Pollination collective who run a label, put on parties, curate a mix series and organise community projects. We stumbled upon her last year and have been enjoying a bunch of her mixes for CommaCast, On Rotation, Planète Noire and Fuaim. Her sets are peppered with influences of early trance, techno, and 00's prog, building tension, keeping you engaged and demonstrating an ear for storytelling.

Mark Davis aka ‘darkmavis’ is a London via Dublin based DJ, Producer and Promoter. He finds his main inspirations in classic trance, queer dance music scenes past and present, oldskool hardcore and across the broad spectrum of avant-garde/experimental electronic music. 

In their own words about the mix; 'This is an 1hr 20min journey starting off with ambient trance through to progressive, breaks and uplifting trance in meeting of both new and old classic sounds with old skool rave euphoria felt throughout'

@ldazedj provides us with a mix exploring the depths of psy tinged club tracks this one defo ain’t for the faint hearted @ldazedj emerged on the scene in Birmingham with the collective Selextorhood in 2021. She holds a residency with brum night re:cord. 
Now London-based and backed with support from Rhythm Section’s future proof programme, L daze curates sets which weave through genres including prog, trance, techno and bass. She had a london debut at The Cause with Keep Hush earlier this year.

In their own words; I wanted my instalment of Liquid Joy to be a concept mix, so this is an hour-long sonic storytelling of the life cycle of water. Starting with rain falling from the sky, the selections in the first half take you on the journey of joining and becoming one with the ocean, travelling to its deepest depths and eventually rising back to the surface, through the lens of spoken word, progressive, dubstep, bass and experimental. The 2nd half illustrates the process of evaporation, becoming one with the air and atmosphere and climbing ever higher to the sun via house, progressive, some gloriously bright 90s techno and heavenly doses of trance 💫

Our first Liquid joy mix of 2024 has arisen on to the shores 🏝🐚

Dublin based DJ and co-founder to one of the city's most exciting DIY parties, @gary2d2f, compiles sophisticated soundscapes of house music’s past, present & future. Whether it’s transmitted digitally, via his show Natural Instincts on DDR, or shared with you in person at one of their nomadic @tendertendxr parties, Gary’s knowledge of dance music and its lineage comes to the fore. Propelled by a love for the dance floor’s seduction, a level of commitment can be heard in each set, no shortcuts taken. From the more confronting NYC sound to the recent Progressive revival, plenty of Euro detours and organ archives can be heard along the way.

The 10th Installment of the Liquid Joy mix series has arrived onto the shores courtesy of @o_kirk

Inspired by interstellar communication, textural rhythms, and high-intensity grit through techno, trance, and progressive transmissions, Ollie Kirk is a DJ, promoter, and label head based in Bristol, UK. As well as being one of the brains behind the cosmic collective Down To Earth, Ollie Kirk has been a Noods Radio resident for the last 6 years and a member of Grade 10, a UK-based record label focusing on all aspects of electronic music, art, and design. Appearances across the UK circuit have seen him play at festivals such as Secret Garden Party, Transmissions, Madruga, and Come Bye as well as featuring on line-ups alongside the likes of Fantastic Man, Silverlining, Violet, LUXE, DJ Life, Guy Contact, D Tiffany and more.
