AQUEDEUX BIO

Aquedeux (pronounced a-qua-dew) is Robyn de Jager, a psytrance producer & DJ born and currently residing in South Africa. Music has always been an integral part of her life. She began playing the piano at the age of 3 and violin at the age of 11 and attended an arts high school where she studied classical music.

She discovered electronic music and, more particularly, psytrance quite late in life – in 2009, her last year at university. She immediately fell in love with this strange (to her at that stage) music, mainly because it had perfect timing and amazing sounds she had never imagined could possibly come into existence. She also found the music perfectly and wonderfully confusing. In 2011 she discovered that she could make this music with a computer, all on her own, and her destiny was decided.

In 2012 she spent the year in Cape Town learning how to make psytrance under the masterful tutorship of Xatrik and since then has only gone from strength to strength as a producer. Her classical training is clearly palpable in her music, with her signature sound being characterised by elegant melodies, complex, interwoven harmonies and compelling rhythms.

With several tracks released on Phonix records and an her debut EP released in 2019, which made it into the Beatport top 10 of psytrance releases worldwide, this artist’s exciting journey into the realm of sonic sorcery has only just begun and she hopes to continue to entrance and ensnare your minds & hearts with her music for a long time to come.

As a DJ, she plays her own productions as well as afternoon & night-time twilight psytrance in the range of 141-148bpm.
