Well, we’re glad his Road to Nowhere has led here. We welcome Yamil back on MoBlack
Records to deliver our 426th imprint, bringing an underrated Rosalinda de la Espada classic
across the turn of millenium, and into the limelight. The Spanish DJ/Producer’s 2021 dance
revival of ‘Hermanito Mio Quirivi’ lets us savor the sound of cumbia, a track that can steep the
soul of Panama in any dancefloor through to its finish.
The rich cultures and traditions that melt in the transcontinental republic’s pot impregnates its
music with depth, and Yamil carefully preserves that. Maneuvering the original’s quintessence
with grace, his rendition is vibrant, vivid and voracious. Percussion seeps deeply and the
hi-hats are warm to the touch, the Afro groove is suave, and the Latin infusions are seductive.
With subtle electronic tweaks that invigorate rapture, Quiribi is lush. But it is Rosalinda de la
Espada’s soulful storytelling at the marrow of both the original and remix that elevates ‘Quiribi’
from the depths of past to the motion of present. The late folk heroine’s timeless vocals, robust
and heartened by history - her story, lands in perfect harmony with Yamil’s midas touch for a
track that makes us just want to dance forever, anywhere, everywhere.

Following a statement Anjunadeep debut with 2016's 'Over Clouds' EP, Germany's Koelle makes a welcome return to the label with four track EP 'Another Land'. 

First up title track and emotive deep cut 'Another Land'; a familiar moment from the label's recent iTunes dance #1 album 'Anjunadeep 08', given a special Deep 08 edit by Anjuna stalwart Jody Wisternoff and label boss James Grant; also featuring as the closing track on the package. Maintaining the momentum, another Deep 08 favourite, textured percussive cut 'Last Words'. Lastly, 'The Void', a quirky melodic groover layering delicate keys and vocal chants alongside a chugging bassline groove.

Crosstown Rebels' Serge Devant graces rising Swiss label RADIANT with his infectious dancefloor-focused style via a driving remix of Fabio Aurea's new track  'Yini'. 

The Fabio Aurea original is pure Balearic deep groove bliss, glimmering with cosmic textures and captivating rhythm. Now Serge Devant flips the ballad into a rolling percussively-laced ballad, featuring warm bass, fluttering synths and a sensual vocal hook. With the sunny season on the horizon, the house cut is primed to make an impact on the dancefloor.

'Yini', which also features remixes by Armonica and Frederick Stone, is set for release March 15.

A duo brought together by a shared passion for world stories and lost cultures, and their
abilities to preserve narratives through sound, namely in the language of electronic music
spoken in its most native and tribal form, Sparrow & Barbossa imparts MoBlack Records
with a dancefloor-geared and strikingly elegant rendition of Fatoumata Diawara's 2018
original. The Malian actress/singer/guitar player and songwriter's "Nterini" brought to life, a
story so personal yet universal as heartbreak and loneliness, from a modern-day romance
afflicted by a deep-rooted contemporary global phenomenon, drawing these inherent
ambiguities through an interplay of traditional and modern musical techniques and
mechanisms. Swiss Bryan Coletta and Uruguayan Emiliano Haberli break down Diawara's
masterpiece, piquing its brokenness to recreate an experience from a new perspective,
maintaining focus on its gripping Bambara lyrics, the timelessness of traditional African
percussion, versatility of tribal rhythms and the ubiquity of migration not only in the
composer's narrative but in a global context. Set off by hearty bass in the uncertainty of
hastened tempo, Sparrow & Barbossa retrieve the original's vulnerability through tender
piano riffs before nostalgia hits and emotions pour with Fatoumata Diawara's climactic
vocals and motion-inducing drum processions break free, evoking the liberating and binding
allure of movement and fundamental humanity in dance.
