The Mayday album is a distress signal from a ship that is going down in the epicenter of a raging storm. This is the cry of the soul about the omnipresent chaos and darkness that surrounds our lives for the last couple of years: wars, losses, cataclysms and general confusion. This is a grain of hope that even on the darkest night, the sun will definitely come out from behind the clouds and the storm will end.

The three tracks of 'Hanging', 'Footsteps of the Night' and 'Eyes Shut' are the three bonus tracks/encores to the collection of my 'Piano Days 1' album which has been previously uploaded on Spotify and elsewhere, but not in Soundcloud.

(The 'Piano Day 1' album contains the piano compositions that I have been producing over the past years, from 2015 to 2021, along with three fresh ones that you can listen to now.)

Eyes Shut

To celebrate the third anniversary of Justina Jaruševičiūtė’s critically acclaimed debut album, Silhouettes, we are releasing a remastered edition, which includes two exclusive new tracks: Ben Chatwin’s Haunted Mix of Prayer and an orchestral version of Distant Star, performed by Lithuania’s Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra. A new limited CD edition is also available, with revisited artwork and more elegant packaging, thoughtfully designed by Celia Bayo.

Back in September 2019, Justina Jaruševičiūtė attended an Echo Collective show at Funkhaus Berlin, where Jóhann Jóhannsson’s album 12 conversations with Thilo Heinzmann was being premiered. This concert, which she described as one of the most touching performances she had ever attended, was what inspired her to write music for string quartet. Recorded between June and November of 2020 at the amazingly sounding Christuskirche Oberschöneweide in Berlin, Silhouettes is a soul-stirring project and an evident demonstration of Jaruševičiūtė’s remarkable compositional skills. The pieces that shape this record are often tenebrous and pensive, contrasted by a few moments in which light seems to shine through, allowing the violins, viola and violoncello to embrace us with hope and comfort.
