APRIL FOOLS!!! NO ALBUM FOR YOU!!!

Just kidding - Jokes Aside is a project that captures the nonsense that accumulates in my brain and ultimately gets incorporated into my music.

The title track, Jokes Aside, serves as a fun overseer to the rest of the album and sets the playful tone for the project.

My wife, Mandy, made the album art and I think it serves as a perfect depiction of not taking things too seriously and laughing about all of the goofy things that happen in life.

Jokes Aside, I am quite proud of this album and I hope you get a few maniacal chuckles out of it like I have :)

This EP is a collection of music I have grown very fond of over the past few months. A nice blend of uplifting and heavy-hitting music that I would call some of my best work.

July is my birth month and has always been my favorite part of the year. During July I always feel like I am free to spend my time how I choose whether it is relaxing or making great memories with friends and family. I had the luxury of growing up at my parent's house with a pool and I have always had an affinity for water. July in Michigan and water are a match made in heaven!

I hope you enjoy this collection of music as I have over the past few months, and I hope it serves as a nice listen for the remainder of your summer and beyond :)

Sol Fest 2022 Mix Submission

Did you ever think about the fact that we as humans can think about thinking? Metacognitive Awareness is the awareness of how one thinks and an awareness of how to change the way we think.

This is the second track I wrote chronologically on this album. This one was created as a halfway point for my Electric Mitten Mix last year. I'm glad I finally found a good opportunity to release it!

What's life like without a bit of fun? This track was written very quickly during the Fall of 2021 and turned into one of my favorite tracks that I think I would want to play live. Mandy also loves this one :) I am in the process of making visuals for this track that fit my style and would just be a fun ol' time.

This is the fastest-paced/highest energy track on the album but it fits perfectly. Do I really need to post lyrics for this one? Lol, have fun!

Mothership Radio Guest Mix #084: Arcadian Sound

This is a really special remix! This track is one of my favorite things I have written in a long while. Downtempo has always been something I have gravitated towards and I felt that I was able to make a track that encapsulates the beauty of not being too busy and having the ability to spend time freely.

Downtime is something I have valued heavily since I was a child. Having free time to be able to play games or hang out with friends was so special, and it seems as you get older you have less and less downtime. 

Working in the schools, I have summers off and I am lucky enough to spend a lot of my time as I please. This may be my last July with the generous amount of downtime I was able to cherish this summer, but I love that I can share this track to immortalize my experience this summer and revisit the feeling <3

Downtime

This track is a little bit of an odd one out for this EP, but it is the perfect parallel to the other tracks. The name of this track came about after Mandy and I had to go buy a padlock and lock our garage at our burnt-down house (which is being reconstructed as we speak). 

Apparently, someone had been sneaking into the backyard and living in the garage, which was not cool for us because we have a bunch of stuff in the garage and we have already lost enough stuff to ultimately lose more.

Long story short, we padlocked the garage door shut and then went back to the apartment we are staying at and I made this crucher.

Padlock is thematically about keeping negativity out of your life. Rage the negativity away.

This Is War [WAR DUB] (Response 2 Bassedelic & Urkle, Send 4 Milano, JAMiAM, & Eyetrip)

I wrote this track to try to capture a sort of dramatic feeling. The idea of "Parallel Minds" comes from the idea of two people being on the same page. The vocal aspects of the track come from a current preset that I resampled heavily.

I would say that the theme ultimately suggests that even when 2 like-minded people are far away and not physically close to each other, their mindsets, thoughts, and feelings are still aligned.

This is a track I created in an hour during a beat challenge with @bvcketsbass and other friends. This beat challenge in particular was one that I was quite fond of.

Restoration of course goes with the themes of summer vacation and recharging ones mental, physical, and emotional battery.

July is my favorite month of the year for many reasons. One of the main reasons being that it is the only month of the year that I do not have to work at all. For me it is the month of birth, downtime, restoration, and subsequent flight.

Hollow Knight is an underrated game that I found myself really enjoying. The Fungal Wastes part of the map was particularly interesting and I wanted to make a tune to capture the vibe.

Play Hollow Knight if you like challenging games,  it was so sick!

Sometimes you gotta pick a lock, steal things, or do some questionable stuff when you're playing Fallout. How else are you gonna survive in the nuclear wasteland?

This is just a stinky little tune I made by sampling the lost karma sound from Fallout 3/New Vegas.

They should add the system back when they make Fallout 5 cause taking it out of Fallout 4 was lame.

Energy weapons are sick in the Fallout universe. In 76 I used a plasma caster and called it Plasma Jawn lol and it was my go to weapon. Instigating (100% damage on full health enemies) + 50% crits and -25% VATS cost lol it turned most enemies into goop in one headshot.

The plasma defender from New Vegas was sick too. Anyway, hope you enjoy this Fallout inspired bass tune!!

Theres a special feeling about finding some rare stuff in videogames, whether that be a mythic/legendary item in fortnite, or some good RNG in any other game.

This is one of my favorite tracks I've made over the past few years and I feel that it accurately captures my production style as whole.

This track was initially created from the idea of being in a dark place far away from the rest of the world. I was playing the Legend of Zelda, TOTK while making this track and thought about the Depths in that game as an accurate depiction of that feeling, so I wanted to include it on this album!

This track was initially supposed to be a single release at some point, but I thought it fit thematically on the album.

I made this track when I was addicted to Fallout 76 lol.

If you played 76 on launch like I did and stopped playing, I totally get it because it sucked lol.

That being said, it is a much better game now.

Unyielding means not giving way to pressure; hard or solid. I like to think of it as being similar to the concept of perseverance.

I made this tune in an hour and decided to keep it as is!

I wanted to make something that emulated the feeling of starting up a game and having your save file corrupted.

It is also a move in pokemon that allows you to get items from wild pokemon and use them for yourself!

I had a badass Linoone in my Ruby version (that I lost as a kid, RIP), and I kept covet for the whole game cause I loved snatching items when I could haha.

This is a very special track to me.

It is an attempt to capture the feeling of escaping from reality. The the lyrics represent using videogames as an escape from the everyday norms of life and immersing oneself in a new world, much like dreaming when you fall asleep.

This track has held a special place in my heart over the past few years. I began writing this in the airport before one of my best friends weddings.

The title track of the Gameboy Color album represents next steps and the evolution of what once was. Figuratively, this track and album signifies the development of my music since I released the "Gameboy" album back in 2021.

While my music is still heavily inspired by videogames, my tastes are changing and I wanted to add some color to my life.

Color represents the impact of music on other people, how connections can be made in everyday life, and how those connections can make the world a better place. Whether those connections are made through music, or playing games with your best friends, they will help our true colors show in life and we can allow them to help us become our best selves.
