Winner! Decoded Magazine Mix of the Month – Crowley

In Aug 2025 the fabulous Zala invited me to join her and Squishy B to bring our tune selections to the chillout tent at Dragon Dreaming festival's 2025 Warehouse Warm-up party. I was chomping at the bit to drop some deep vibes to an audience. It's been a while. I leant pretty heavy on the chill side, starting with some slow, deep ambient dubstep vibes and building up to more uplifting and mystical housey sounds by the end. It was a lot of fun to play, and the feedback was all very positive. Hope you enjoy the ride.

Imbibe Chillout Tent Mix at Dragon Dreaming 2025 Warehouse Warm Up

An unexpected phone call on a Saturday evening, a last minute invitation to DJ at a birthday party where the guest list is a who's who of people I used to see dancing at the club where I was a resident many years back. I knew this crowd. I knew this vibe. And with no plans, no time to prepare, to rehearse or to panic over what to play, I turned up and dropped this set. It was one of those nights where everything just flowed. Enjoy this uncharted journey through deep, uplifting progressive house and breaks.

This is number 4 in the low BPM range mixes I've recorded since getting back into mixing a month or so ago - this time recorded from my Loungroom rather than hunched over my laptop in my bedroom, with a  DDJ-SB and Traktor Kontrol S1. The opening I'm so happy with, Beethoven was one of the favs of somebody I used to know and def one of mine. I've always wanted to record a classical/soundtrack opening with messed up fx, and this came together really nicely.

The first half is pretty decent, the last half is ok, but the focus of this one is less on seamless mixing like bedroom mix #2, def not something I'd play at a festival, but more what I would play if I ever did a RAGE or JJJ guest spot.
I went straight from unpacking and setting things up to recording this, so apologies for the dodgy mixing towards the end - I was absolutely shattered! Off to bed now but wanted to UL this first.

Some absolute rippers in there, with a focus on extremes ie the most accessible stuff I've dug since I was a teen, and the obscure IDM stuff I got into later.

Each mix is unscripted, pick a song and go. I tend to overthink the situation otherwise. I’m more interested in the relationship between two songs than I am with the actual song on its own. Saying that, each track is hand picked and adored in its own right it’s just the dance between them that I really love. It can be frantic at times but when you get those songs that were meant for each other 🦦
