Dauntless returns to Dispatch for the “Departures EP”. The Sydney-based producer delivers a fittingly titled release with five tracks inspired by the concept of change, letting old memories depart and moving forward with new beginnings.

The release includes collaborations with old friends Cern, Discord and Ewol – written when they travelled through Sydney. The title track “Departures” and “Past Mistakes” also play on the same theme, as Dauntless struggled to let them go.

Each of the varied tracks on this release is equally thoughtful and progressive; whilst at the same time being packed with that unmistakable Dauntless energy.

The SCAR project, a mainstay throughout drum & bass circles for the last 8 years with the duo already leaving several high-profile marks on the Metalheadz back catalogue specifically.

Now with 2 stand out albums to prop them up, 'The Orkyd Project' in 2016 and 'High Fives & Devil Eyes' in 2019, as well as countless other tracks such as 'Caged' and the 'Dark Rider' remix, both of which became instant dancefloor classics.

Fast forward to 2022 and SCAR are about to unveil their third studio album. Entitled 'The Road Less Travelled', we're treated to 16 tracks covering the varied production styles SCAR have pushed since day 1, from the gritty club energy of 'Caterpillar' to the elegant melodies of 'Losing Your Mind', the latter of which sees SCAR once again link up with Naomi Pryor, a pillar of the aforementioned 2016 album.

We're introduced to 2 new vocalists with impressive features from 2Nick8 on 'Count It Off' and KMRS on 'Anxiety', both of whom fit precisely within the spirit of SCAR's productions. An array of contrasting drum patterns can also be found scattered across the album, on deeper cuts like 'Shimmer' and the apache-led 'Conductor'.

Goldie recently referred to SCAR as the "engine block" of drum and bass, a vital component with everything else happening around it and something that every genre needs. They're also the only artist that can claim to have three albums on Metalheadz, a huge sign of Goldie's affirmation and a testament to the duo's uninterrupted stream of quality.

A four-track melodic jungle release from Black Barrel might not be what you expected, but he continues to impress and demonstrate his versatility again. His sound has continued to evolve and explore new musical grounds across his many releases for Dispatch. Just as you think you can identify his trademark elements, he switches things up in new and exciting ways.

This selection of tracks instinctively found their home on Dispatch Dubplate; a collection of mid-90s inspired tunes with an Omni Trio / Essence of Aura vibe, pure jungle deepness and added Black Barrel flair. Built with layers of classic era sounds each track reveals a new side to his production across four deep cuts.

True to the nature of the Dispatch Dubplate range, these tracks have already been circulating on dub for some time and have been getting a lot of love. Goldie is a huge fan of Black Barrel’s melodic jungle takes and tried to bag these 4 for Metalheadz at a later stage after road-testing them out at clubs and festivals.

INK : The story so far......

An architect first visualizes then realises, making something out of nothing, making sure that not only the object itself shines but also the space around it. The sound is moulding, shaping and morphing at the hands of Dj Ink... 

The year is 1990 and a young Dj Ink has solidified his love for the culture known as hip hop- as the years move on so does UK street music, there are new genres forming and Ink begins to hear what is familiar to him, but there is a new twist-It is the UK passing by the USA, with a huge dose of African and Jamaican influence, This is music to a budding Dj Ink's ears, he naturally becomes involved and it doesn’t take too long before he begins to make his mark. 

First begins the Pirate radio circuit. Working hard at his craft and allowing the followers to get familiar with the roll, steadily bookings began to build up and soon it would be time for Ink to become associated with three names that changed the landscape of British electronic music-Basement Records, and slightly later Metalheadz and Renegade Hardware. Ink would go onto form his own imprint- Architecture Recordings, releasing anthems from himself and various crew members, bringing through new talent and the cream of the heavy hitters within drum n bass. If you're familiar with drum n bass/jungle you’ll know instantly the weight these labels carry, and if you're not by just scratching the surface you’ll become aware of the impact they have had. Renegade Hardware & Metalheadz are two commitments Dj Ink has upheld to this day, through thick and thin, engraved in the wall of time.

Essential work includes 'The 50th (Blueprint)' (1st Drum and Bass/Jungle tune selected live by a dj (LTJ Bukem) on BBC Radio 1 essential DnB show ever!) and "Altitude" on Basement Records, ‘Feel da heat’ taken from the LP ‘Can u draw sound?’ on Architecture Recordings, ‘Kaos Theory EP’ on Renegade Hardware, ‘Shine’ on Metalheadz, and the now infamous posse cut ‘Instinct’ also on Architecture, this is just a small fraction by Ink that has made waves. 

The now famous "Horsemen" project was a concept headed up by Ink, Loxy, Dylan & Keaton. Originally formed due to the affinities amongst the original four, the crew went onto bring together producers from all over the globe under the "Horsemen" banner- beat makers who have been inspired by the foundations laid down by The Four Horsemen went on to receive acclaim from critics and music buyers alike.

Ink has a number of long players under his belt, to select a few In chronological order these are - Incision and Can You Draw Sound for Architecture Recordings, Hard Soul w/ Perpetuum for Colours Audio and: The Last Scroll for Renegade Hardware. In more recent events we have "The Tree & The Wind" by INK & SIN also on Architecture Recordings.  With these credits to his name it is fair to say INK continues to make his mark on DnB.
