With this release we wanted to capture the magical feeling of a day at its end, turning from a vibrant sunset into a night full of stars. We are always fascinated by the idea of creating art based on how a musical work made us feel, but here we did the opposite: made music based on how a photograph made us feel. This photo that Masha took of an Australian coast captured a beautiful sunset evening, when the moon could be seen above it, framed by tree branches and the ocean below. We decided we wanted to express it in sound and this is the result.

A love letter to the wonders of progress and discovery as well as 90's computer sounds. We got inspired by singing floppy drive videos and Masha made her own sounds to match on the Roland Gaia SH-01.

This song is a work in progress for a game main menu screen for a game we are working on. We made this song with the idea in mind that entropy has always been around, but the kind we have now is a very modern kind of condition - having to make sure the alarm wakes us up, going to work and back, having messes pile up and be cleaned up again, having limited free time and choosing what you do with it each day, choosing who you talk to or befriend, or who you date, and the dating game. However we made the song itself reflect 80's/90's feeling vaporwave disco styles with a minimalist melody.

Photo taken by Masha when we visited Melbourne in 2014. Masha: "I always thought the camera's flash in this one looks like I am holding light. I like it. It is also a really good memory of going to PAXAus during that holiday, we met up with a lot of interesting game developers, musicians, and friends we hadn't seen in a while."

In our Vuhu Island game, the archaeologist character Andrew writes this song for his band 'Acobaleno' as the last song on the album 'Introverted Dreamers'. The character is a multi-instrumentalist who can sing and plays guitar and synth.

The title is about how once Andrew had zero tracks on his album, now he has twelve (this was his goal). It is a victory song.

This song was first composed in the early days of our band. Its code name used to be 'Electric Crickets' due to the first sound effect in the song that we achieved when playing around with the d-beam on the Roland Gaia SH-01.

That was its title for a long time. Written for the Vuhu Island game we're working on as another song for the trickster spirit character. This piece aims to be fun and playful, with spooky undertones.

The song art was first designed by Robert this time, who drew Masha a surprise whiteboard sketch back in 2016, which was left on the whiteboard for a whole year after that. First composed March 2016, and had an odd code name for a while that was randomly generated text: 'manysipivu' and later it went by the code name 'Phoenix' for a long time. However after other instruments were added, we felt the mood was more of being caught in a daydream in which you have a ton of ideas, and how that feels. In 2022 Masha mixed and mastered the song and named it 'Swept Away By Stunning Inspiration', with the song art by Masha alluding to the fact that it's a companion song to both of our tracks 'Autumn Breeze' with a similar theme to 'When Passion Conquers Fear'.

Happy 2023  Everyone!! We will be resuming out of hiatus properly soon, we just ran out of space on our SoundCloud profile. Here's a song that will be on the upcoming album Mulu Lagoon for you all to hear early, even before it's out on Bandcamp because it was in private mode for a long time and it's included in the space we had.

About this one: we wrote a happy song to lift the spirits. <3

Started in 2017, this song's code name was 'Light' for a long time. In 2022 we renamed it to 'Whimsical Escapade' as that's how the eccentric main lead (that Masha added last) made us feel.

We started this song almost exactly 2 years ago in November 2020. Its code name was "Meeting" and it quickly got named to 'When I Realised...'. 

A note from Masha: "It is another love song I wrote about Rob Ulysses. Lyrics will be posted when the singing's done."

When we built the synth sounds we were inspired by the Portal 2 Soundtrack by Aperture Science Psychoacoustics Laboratory.

Archmage Band was formed in 2013 by Rob Ulysses and Masha Solo, who are a musician couple and synth pop duo based in Australia. 

Big News: We're planning out the follow up to our previous album, 'Realm II [Instrumental Prologue]' and it has a release date of May 15th, 2024 (15/05/2024) but it is all almost done! It is a 20-track album exploring an experimental blend of synth-pop, phonk, gothic synth pop, chiptunes, fantasy and sci fi themes, and is also the soundtrack to our story/game in progress 'Parallel Tales' (as is the previous album).

In late 2023 we released a debut 12-track album, as part of the 'Realms' series, 'Realm I [Instrumental Prologue]' on December 12th, 2023 (12/12/2023) We're ecstatic that it's finally finished and we hope you enjoy it. It will be streamable both on Soundcloud and Bandcamp without limits.

We use just one synthesizer, the Roland Gaia SH-01, for most of our work, combining it with sounds from Reason Compact and Figure on occasion.
