It all began in 2011 when guitarist Kevin Donohue and bassist Andrew Clymer broke away from their hip-hop roots and decided that sample-based electronic music simply wasn’t enough. The Boulder duo set out to find their own blend of live instrumentation and production, which would lead to the creation of @SunSquabi. The group very quickly gained notoriety in the Denver/Boulder area and performed their first show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in June 2011 (Global Dance Festival). Shortly thereafter, drummer and Boston native Chris Anderson joined the group and inspired the group to even further seek the limitless potential of the live-electronic realm.

Over the past three years, SunSquabi has performed at some of the country’s most notable music festivals (Wakarusa, Summer Camp, Sonic Bloom, Snowball, SXSW, Euphoria Music Festival). The trio has been consistently touring the U.S. since May 2012, and rapidly gaining recognition from the ever-evolving EDM and Livetronica markets. SunSquabi has shared the stage with Big Gigantic, Pretty Lights, The Disco Biscuits, GriZ, Up Until Now, Two Fresh, Conspirator, Michal Menert, Boombox, The Floozies, Archnemesis, Break Science, Minnesota, Ghostland Observatory and many more.

I dropped this track at our sold out Bluebird Theater show in Denver almost 3 years ago now. I never really considered it done so it's remained unreleased but I figured now is good a time as any to share it with you all.

Hype-mag.com is a webzine dedicated to festivals and the bands that play them, with an emphasis on photography and video. We strive to change the way music is covered and listened to with each article we put out. Hype-mag.com is really just one man, Phil Sunkel. I have always had a passion for music and imagery. My life's path really became clear when Hype-mag co-founder, Michael Parker, took me to Bear Creek '09. Being my first real festival, it changed my life and opened my eyes to an entire new world of quality music. College, friends and many festivals drove me to create this website to showcase the wide variety of artists, bands, musicians, DJs, poets and people who surround the beautiful world of festivals.

Since its inception in 2009, the Archnemesis sound has been in a constant state of evolution. With musical beginnings firmly established through a strict regimen of classical training on the cello and piano, eventually jazz theory and composition crept in, and more instruments like bass, drums and guitar were discovered and learned. The culmination of this vast musical knowledge ultimately shaped the Archnemesis sound before propelling it through a variety of analog stratospheres and into the digital realm of electronic music production. 

With a sound based primarily in, but not limited to, “electro hip-hop soul”, Archnemesis continues to evolve musically and socially by encompassing all styles and genres of music while simultaneously welcoming in all the fans that follow those genres.

Through extensive national touring, Archnemesis has created a steadily growing fan base aptly dubbed the “Nemesis Army”, and strives to create an un-biased community both online and at live shows where anyone can express themselves without discrimination. Also, by using music as a platform for outreach, Archnemesis is constantly generating new and innovative ideas to foster a community and encourage change.

When not touring, Archnemesis has managed to compile an extensive catalogue of EP’s, LP’s remixes and collaborations. Beginning with the 2010 release of the EP Diamonds and Glass, the full-length albums People’s Radio and Every Man For Himself were well received by fans and critics alike. The remixes of Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle” and Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen” both charted on The Hype Machine and see extensive play from DJ’s across the country. A fourth EP, Follow Me, was released in July of 2013, and it took an even bigger step towards truly defining the Archnemesis sound. With the latest EP Free For All, the move towards solidifying the Archnemesis sound was complete.

Every Archnemesis encounter is a full sensory experience that is highly charged and delicious. This energetic live approach has been brought to such acclaimed festivals as The Hangout Music Festival, Wakarusa, Lights All Night, Camp Bisco, Electric Forest and SnowGlobe, as well as theatres and clubs across the country. With momentum building and no signs of slowing down, Archnemesis continues to create an amazing live experience while steadily growing the ever-faithful "Nemesis Army" and working towards a positive change through music.
