I really admire the direction that @encym took the @noodletwister and @sinnysounds collaboration. I took the three iterations and panned them on Audacity, then used effects and fade. Here's what transpired.

There are some beats here, just for a change. They are made with some silicone membranes whose normal use would be to cover food bowls. Soma ROAT and Aqusmatiq Dedalus Delay add a little of controlled chaos.

Disquiet Junto Project 0611: Music That Listens to Itself
The Assignment: Record a piece of music that repurposes itself as it proceeds.

Step 1: The underlying idea is to produce music that, so to speak, listens to itself. This would be music that employs techniques to revisit itself — repurposes itself — as it proceeds. From reverb to echo to tape loops to granular synthesis to accessing a buffer, various techniques serve such a compositional and performance purpose. Consider a means to achieve this result.

Step 2: Record a piece of music that employs the technique you focused on as a result of Step 1.

My immediate idea upon reading the prompt was to use a delay feeding an envelope follower to affect the signal feeding into the delay.   The result being like the speaker is forced to pause and listen to the words of their former self.  The patch came together quite quickly and I has a lot of potential, but I think will take awhile to fully realize and I am really looking forward to continuing the exploration.

My goal was to create absolutely free, momentary music with my new Soma Terra and Soma Cosmos and a bit of guitar.
I started and after 18 minutes the journey was over and I had a very dry mouth

Sounds from terra to heaven/hell(disquiet0613)

This is my first music making experiment in response to a prompt from Disquiet Junto. The prompt was to think of something I often do when making music and approach it differently. 

I often end up layering arpeggio-like things, partly because I like how it sounds and partly, maybe, to feel like I'm making something "complicated" and therefor impressive. I decided to avoid that and attempt more simplicity...or at least to bring in the complexity elsewhere.

I also rely a bit on midi instruments and quantizing (my rhythm isn't great). While there is still some midi stuff in there, I didn't start with it. I actually laid down some vocals first that ended up mostly being removed or moved. I also used an old Concertmate I found on the street (Radioshack's version of the simple Casio) for the main bass drum and bass sounds. 

After trying several things that weren't working for me, I ended up dipping into my voice memos in my phone and found a recording of me just playing a riff on the piano and singing nonsense, mumbly, improvised lyrics. I then shifted other elements to built the song around that.

Chose to work with the words "calm" and "placid".

Created in Ableton Live using Fors Chiral and Slate+Ash Choreographs with Strymon Big Sky and Aqusmatiq Dedalus Delay for effects. Not sure whether I'm 100% satisfied with the result since I had a more quiet and subtle ambient vibe in mind when I started. Maybe I’ll re-visit this sometime in the future.
