Ballons Rouges

An experiment to create the evolving textures and forms you may hear in a Spitfire Audio evo grid/EMS VCS3 system with sounds/samples coming back and forth. I wanted to try this with some of the cheaper or free options available from Spitfire in preparation of one day owning some of the Evo grid VSTS (such as the awesome sounding Chamber Evolutions!)

I created 4 separate tracks using the following:
Arc String Textures - Vn and Cello
Spitfire Labs Frozen Strings - Harmonics
Spitfire Labs Scary Strings + Performance Samples River Harp (still free I think!)
Spitfire Labs Vc 'The Frozen String'

On these tracks I also added:
My Daw's default delay plugin (a different delay length for each track, no delay on the cello)- gonna buy U-He's Colour Copy soonish!
Soundtoys Little Plate

I armed all the tracks at once and explored the sounds through a couple of chords, the mod wheel was used to bring in the dynamics a little throughout and I placed certain elements higher or lower on the keys so 1 or 2 notes were able to be solo'd if I needed them (usually in the bass). 

I hope this helps to inspire others to give stuff a go with what they have, maybe as a warm up to that particular instrument or sound you want to achieve!

ARC Samples is an independent organisation founded by composer Angus Roberts-Carey, with the purpose of creating unique sample libraries that are easily accessible and manipulated by the music community. Although simple in concept, ARC tries to create samples that have endless, unpredictable possibilities for the users- a pandoras box of textures and timbres that have the ability of throw out random sparkles of brilliance and intrigue.
