Another episode of strange stories and emotions wrapped up as
Part II in the AMAZING BUBBLE series.

The series is based on improvisation sessions with modular synthesis and field recordings as main ingredients. I am interested in the quest for that sorely harmony by weaving modular basses, melodies, drones, noises and rhythms with layers of manipulated field recordings. For me a world to enter, to create amazing bubbles.

Music for Delirious Episodes brings together eleven compositions. Ard Bit is known for his delicate, almost brittle, works. This collection focuses on that same fragility that fascinates Janssen.

From the first steps of “Troubled Veil”, the listener is absorbed into a digital weave of field recordings, everyday undulations, other day modulations and loose harmony. Traditional instruments, string and wind, are filtered and re-imagined. The mundane echoes of routines are reborn as the percussive hum of pieces like “Stripped” and “Broken Respirator (White Funnel).” Behind the shifts and shuffles lurks something triumphal. Memories are given new form through audio carvings. Birdsong is handcrafted through knob tweaks, elephant trumpets bellow past swells of electronic insects as a glowing sun rises through the speaker. Hazes of static are shorn back, as in “Seppuku”, to allow moments of intense focus and reflection. And then we return, to that ephemeral beauty that permeates this record, with the final embrace of “Awakening Delusion”. An artist who finds the extraordinary in the often overlooked, or unheard.

Personal Note:
Instead of looking outside, at your surroundings, it is worth going inside. You find happiness in yourself. And that happiness can only be experienced when there is balance with yourself. Happiness from within apart from expectations from the outside. It is essential to seek the silence to escape from who we think we are and experience who we really are. I like to reach out to that light. I record sound we hear every day, it is a part of life captured in it, a moment when everything happens, where everything can be heard. I focus on that because it is just there but we may have forgotten it, standing still in sound is my silence

Music For Delirious Episodes

The third episode in the Field Recordings series was recorded in Poland in the summer of 2021. From the Bialowieza Forest on the border with Belarus, one of the last and largest remaining parts of the immense primeval forest, to the Tatra Mountains with her erratic rocks, high peaks, breathtaking views and beautiful nature, located on the border with Slovakia.

Besides recording the natural elements, animals and spatial environments, I used the landscape and the objects present as a sound canvas. Interesting sound textures were created by tapping, hitting, throwing or rubbing on and against surfaces. In this episode I tried to capture the atmosphere of Poland through a coalescence of sound recordings and musical ideas.

Field Recordings - 03 Poland

Field Recordings - 05 Bohemia continues my journey into the depths of soundfields, where natural landscapes and human presence intertwine. This time, I’ve immersed myself in spaces rich with history and atmosphere—capturing the ambient resonance of Prague Castle, the sacred echoes within cathedrals, the intimate stillness of a camp bathroom in Žďár Příhrazy, and the mechanical hum of a pumping station in Přírodní rezervace. Layered with nature’s voicefields alive with insects, rolling thunder, and the rhythm of rain, these recordings tell a story of place, memory, and experience.

Back in my studio, I blended these raw recordings with experimental / musical elements and drones derived from a short organ recording in Kathedrále sv. Petra a Pavla in Brno, weaving together the organic and the composed into a cohesive soundscape, all through the lens of sound art.

Field Recordings - 05 Bohemia

Ard Bit’s fourth EP blends field recordings, soundscapes and rhythmic sources into melancholic and atmospheric layered constructions. The Rotterdam- based dutch composer and sound artist has released on Lowriders Recordings, Shipwrec and Symbolic Interaction, and now comes with a self-released new episode of strange stories and emotions.

'Six Scores One' was partly written in the forests of Winterswijk, a stone's throw from the Korenburgerveen. This peat lies in an environment where you can wander through beautiful forests, wooded banks, streams, heathland and peat bog. An ideal place for reflection. Six Scores One tells a story of ever-changing nature in all its facets. Transforming beautiful fields into ominous, disorienting worlds where serenity gives way to devastation.

One strong recurring layer, suggesting a machine world, conjugates everything and is often sculpted far enough from the source of inspiration. Ard Bit’s processing here moves in veiled ways, woven with the quirky compositions as if they are housed.

Recorded in Poland in the summer of 2021.

The fourth episode in the Field Recordings series was recorded in the Balkans in the summer of 2022.

All sounds for this episode are recorded in the versatile fields of Albania, Bosnia, Montenegro and Slovenia. From Sarajevo’s Olympic Bobsleigh to the Cursed Mountains in Albania and back via the small peaceful village Miholjače in Bosnia to the beautiful Kamnik-Savinja Alps in Slovenia. The ambient layers on top are recorded in my studio in Rotterdam.

The colors of the cover artwork are chosen by Rutger Zuydervelt.

Rutger Zuydervelt composes music as Machinefabriek. His music combines elements of ambient, noise, minimalism, drone, field recordings and electro-acoustic experiments. The music can be heard as an attempt to create sonic environments for the listener to dwell in. It can be minimalistic at first glance, but reveals its depth upon closer listening.

DR00152.wav says my field recorder. It’s an enchanting recording of the serenity I experience in the magic of Pantanal. A purling stream, a water tumbler, insects and a bird, beautiful!

This place and the recording are the primary ingredient for Brizal. The serenity and the emptiness in this track reflect my experience there.

In this collaboration, Radboud Mens and I explore the tension between stasis and movement. Operating within the realm of drone and electroacoustic music, we construct a sonic landscape where sustained tones and microscopic events constantly shape and reshape each other. What initially appears static reveals itself to be rich with detail: tiny acoustic shifts breathe life into apparent stillness, inviting focused and attentive listening.

The album emerged from a process where sound research, improvisation, and sound design merge. Self-built instruments, the search for timbre and texture, and recordings of the learning process itself form the foundation of these compositions. Rather than following a traditional musical structure, the result is a sonic field in which the minimal continually transforms depending on the listener’s perspective. This is a layered and handcrafted album that doesn’t narrate, but questions. Marking A Boundary With The Turning Point is not a boundary. It’s an invitation to listen differently.

Recorded in Vietnam on March 2024 and composed in Rotterdam, it blends field recordings of rituals and daily life with drones and layered textures derived from them.

Hum Score

Ard Bit’s fourth EP blends field recordings, soundscapes and rhythmic sources into melancholic and atmospheric layered constructions. The Rotterdam- based dutch composer and sound artist has released on Lowriders Recordings, Shipwrec and Symbolic Interaction, and now comes with a self-released new episode of strange stories and emotions.

'Six Scores One' was partly written in the forests of Winterswijk, a stone's throw from the Korenburgerveen. This peat lies in an environment where you can wander through beautiful forests, wooded banks, streams, heathland and peat bog. An ideal place for reflection. Six Scores One tells a story of ever-changing nature in all its facets. Transforming beautiful fields into ominous, disorienting worlds where serenity gives way to devastation.

One strong recurring layer, suggesting a machine world, conjugates everything and is often sculpted far enough from the source of inspiration. Ard Bit’s processing here moves in veiled ways, woven with the quirky compositions as if they are housed.
