Baastards never sleep! So don't think we were napping but just on the hunt to further the Baastard family. Whilst searching Italy we found not one but two Baastards, brothers so it must be genetic.

So finally we are happy to share what we found MATHAME. Matteo and Amedeo are from an art and classical music background. Mathame concept is to explore the compositions of techno as a contemporary translation of a Holy Icon. Studying medieval iconography led the brothers to a method of refining the procedures and practices of monks ( Matteo lived for five years in a kind of secular monasticism practicing mediation, exercise , abstinence and fasting.) Methane produce SONIC ICONS but their work is not devotional.

The remix was done by one of the biggest Baastards we know TRUS'ME. Turning Menhlaio into arse shaking groover with it broken breaks and pounding bridges whilst using the original chords to anthemic results. Already getting support from Klock and Dettmann.

Italian-based Mathame joins ARDOR with the 'Loophole' EP. Its title track 'Dance Of Light' is a synth-dominated techno trip with minimalistic drums to switch up the rhythm in a room. The two B-side tracks are straighter dancefloor fare. The first, 'Prophecy', is a thick and heavy, hypnotising 4x4 track & the rough 'Amelie Lens Remix' is a dark and very dynamic interpretation with massive pressure.

"Alkahest is an hypothetical universal solvent, having the power to dissolve every other substance, including gold. It was much sought after by alchemists for what they thought would be its invaluable medicinal qualities. Paracelsus' own recipe was based on caustic lime, alcohol, and carbonate of potash. He believed that alkahest was, in fact, the philosopher's stone. After researching alchemy and their ancestor’s technique, Mathame now translate their findings into finding the perfect balance for the dance-floor.

Here Mathame provoke a reaction: delivering alcohol (Uawok Tong) and carbonate of potash (Opal Cithee), where lime is already in your body while dancing. Uawok Tong is a tune with deep pads, and a kick underneath complete with old, far-out melodies, tipping out of sync, that deliver you out of sobriety through chaotic harmonies.

In Opal Cithee, elements of both ambient and dance-floor tool meet together. The reaction is Alkhaest, where the melodies and story make something unique: groove and punchy bass solve everything…just like the alchemist’s stone.
Label head Tiefschwarz gave a relecture of the title track to complete the reaction .
