'Music They Love'... we ask DJ's and producers to delve into their collection and put together a selection of records that have meant a lot to them in the past, as well as the present. All things inspirational and influential - the records which have shaped their sound as a producer or selection as a DJ.

Next up is @jeigomusic - after witnessing both his debut and follow up EPs sell out in-store in a matter of days, we just knew we had to reach out. He was kind enough to provide us with a blissful trawl through his latest and greatest musical finds.

Next into the mix series is Josh Caffe - a man you will have no doubt come across at some stage in your musical journey - and if not, you'll almost certainly be grateful for the introduction now. 

It's fair to say Josh is a master of a number trades within music, having made a name for himself as a selector, playing shows from Panorama Bar, live with Hannah Holland, all the way up to one of the world's largest festival crowds, with his residency at BLOCK9 at Glastonbury. 

It's arguably equally, if not more so, as an artist which has enabled Josh to make his imprint on the Sonisphere. His unique production style combined with his vocals has seen him achieve a discography of highly coveted releases on his own label, Night Sheen, as well as outlets such as Nervous Records, Crosstown Rebels, BPitch and Dixon Avenue Basement Jam's to name a few. His collaborations with scene legends such as Honey Dijon and Paranoid London have also received much praise, and certainly worth checking out if you haven't done so already.

This mix encapsulates Josh's penchant and encyclopedic knowledge of selecting in dance music. Notes of Acid, House and Techno combine and echo throughout, providing one of the most intriguing dancefloor temptations we have received in a long while.

Eugenia is an Italian, Bay-Area based DJ, writer, and radio curator. She is a resident for Ghunghru, an experimental and ambient focused label and collective based in San Francisco. Through her DJ sets, she works to create a space for vibrant expression and self-reflection. Her selections consist of an intersection of stripped down ambient, house, electro, and atmospheric techno, but she doesn't like to be constricted by genre — rather, by a feeling (and a tight groove.) She runs the radio show “The Shape of Memory,” a monthly transmission through Ghunghru via Boxout.fm, a radio station based in New Dehli. Inspired by a collection of poems by Constance Hunting, the spirit of this radio series is to ask each artist to verbally share, in some form, a distinct memory they hold in their minds, and simultaneously express that memory over the arc of a mix. The idea is, through music, to re-imagine memory as a breathing, living being, one that influences our feelings and sense of self. She studied English Literature and Biology at Stanford University, where she fell in love with language and the healing arts. In her day-to-day, she is a medical researcher and poet, always curious to draw a thread through seemingly disparate disciplines.

Next up on our Digest series: the Glaswegian born, London based powerhouse... our very good friend, Scott Fraser!

1/2 of BodyHammer w/ Joe Hart (the seminal London party and record label) this is one of our very favourites. 

Taking it back to the roots, Scott's put together a 1hr 30 min torrent of jacking Chicago house, some classics, others more obscure. Chocked full of acid bass, hypnotic sound bites, and more sleaze than you can shake your butty to. We've been big fans of Mr. Fraser for a while now, it's great to finally get him on board for a Digest.

Seven Hills Digest 012 - Scott Fraser

Eddie Reynolds aka Tr One is a DJ and producer based in Carlow, Ireland. A much-respected figure within Ireland’s fertile electronic music scene, Reynolds cites the likes of Dublin’s D1 Recordings, Kraftwerk and J Dilla as early influences. Equally inspired by vintage sounds from Chicago and Detroit, he started dabbling in production in the early 00s alongside fellow Irish producer, Dean Feeney. As Tr One the duo released their first EP, ‘Inner Thoughts’ via the much-respected Fine Art imprint back in 2007. An auspicious slice of deep, acid-led techno, the title track quickly introduced the duo to a whole new audience outside of their native land.

Fast-forward over a decade and although the project may now consist of Reynolds only, his dedication to all things house, techno and electro remains unwavering. A prolific producer, Reynolds’ sounds have led him to some of his country’s most-renowned labels, including Lunar Disko, Apartment, Bodytonic and Pogo. What’s more, his music has earned the respect of numerous high-profile names, and has been remixed by a stellar cast including Sonja Moonear, Lerosa and John Heckle.

From a DJ perspective, Reynolds has played in all of Dublin’s foremost nightspots including Twisted Pepper, Wigwam, Twitch Belfast and District 8. A DJ with a truly eclectic vision, this is represented in the names he has played alongside. From Juan Atkins to DJ Stingray to Helena Hauff, Dave Clarke, Surgeon, Maurice Fulton and Steffi, Reynolds is a DJ capable of stepping up under any occasion.

Reynolds’ latest endeavours have brought him to scene-shaping British label Don’t Be Afraid (where last year he released one of his most-cherished releases to date, the magnificent ‘A Month Has Passed’ EP), as well as Lunar Disko, where he collaborated again, this time alongside compatriot R Kitt on the no-less-emphatic sounds of LDRX7. With future releases in the pipeline for Lunar Disko as well as numerous others to follow, these are exciting times for one of Ireland’s most consistent electronic music producers.

We kick start the year with none other than Metropolitan Soul Museum, the dynamic London based duo who are strolling into 2021 with some serious swag. Having recently released a beautifully composed collab with Alt.Aire on Yellow Islands Records, we are chuffed to announce they are following up with an equally impressive entry into the Breathecast. It's always a pleasure to have an old friend on the series, and it's even better when they supply primo goods.

Filippo and Nick have certainly not stood on ceremony during this ungodly halt on Planet Earth. Amidst chaos they have found inspiration for a surge of forthcoming releases on esteemed imprints Public Release, Step Recordings and features on VAs for both Slothboogie and Innate. Keep a close eye on this pair.

Their selections are impeccably placed, maintaining a dreamy and intimate mood throughout. The perfect potion for the pensive and reflective moments in life. Peep some unreleased collab chemistry too!
