For the inaugural edition of the Bastardo Electrico Radio series, we thought it fitting to kick it off with a mix from our new resident Mejmi, one of the best DJs emerging from Ireland's thriving electronic underground.. Recorded live at The Pav, Cork City, Ireland supporting Ben Sims on 14/03/2025.

Blending hypnotic, rhythmic techno with spectral atmospheres and old-school influences, MEJMI crafts a sound that honours the roots of the genre while pushing its boundaries. Using vinyl and digital formats, her sets offer immersive journeys that embrace both past and future.

Founder of Club Economy, MEJMI also holds a residency at Bastardo Electrico, one of Ireland’s most respected techno platforms. Her productions have appeared on Harmless Records, Faoi Thalamh, Encrypted, Airtexture, and Delinquent Delivery—showcasing her skill in fusing drive, depth, and atmosphere.

Her artistry has made a lasting impact on Ireland’s underground scene and is steadily expanding across Europe, with multiple performances in Berlin, Warsaw, and Lublin and more to com

Andy Martin is a Mexican Jamaican electronic artist who mixes up sci-fi techno and Latin Caribbean sounds with a futuristic edge. His most recent album “Antiguos Astronautas” is a musical exploration between the sounds of techno and native american futurism narrative which had a good response from the music community.

46th episode with drums and flow mixed by Kassy – a French DJ and producer from Paris. He began his career as a drummer in a classical orchestra, discovered electronic music at the age of 16, and has never looked back since.

Today, he is a resident DJ at Conceptual Violence and Subtle Radio. His sound combines club energy with the mentality of a musician. Whether at the DJ booth or in the studio, his approach remains practical, raw, and more emotional than formulaic.  Inspired by y2k electro, house, techno, hip-hop, new wave, and breaks, his sets and productions are characterised by vibrant rhythms, deep chords, and memorable vocal cuts.

This month’s DETECT we welcome the ‘psygroove’ specialist ValaV. 

First emerging onto our radar several years ago through their earlier productions, ValaV takes an almost ghostly approach to techno, immersing the listener in a flurry of pads and kicks that pitter-patter along at break-neck pace, yet somehow never feels out of control. Such is the richness of their layered sound design, rather than being engulfed by the pace, we are scooped up, and left to float above the Venezuelan artist’s entirely unique fusion of emotive psy and percussive grooves. 

2025 has seen the Yo-Yo co-founder catch the attention of Anetha’s ‘Mama Told Ya’ label, with a subsequent release on their latest VA this Summer, as well several link ups with the event series, 'Pornceptual' amongst others. 

Now it’s time to welcome them into our mix series, DETECT.

Championing a sound both rugged and trance-inducing, Porto-based Brazilian producer Marcal clocks in this week with two hours blending future-proof warehouse rave material and claustrophobic 4x4 maneuvers. Hot on the heels of his latest ’Nature of the Future’ EP on Donato Dozzy and Neel’s imprint Spazio Disponibile, Marcal takes us on a mind-bending ride down raucous sine-scapes and brooding, verbed-out atmospheres, constantly pushing the envelope of techno as can be experienced these days. Resuming its course as a means for transcending our (currently much gloomy) zeitgeist, techno here gets back on its revolution-friendly tracks, finding its second breath as a metamorphic tool for blazing new paths and routes towards a better, more intelligently designed world. There goes a mix that summons the very finest of Marcal’s boundary-pushing vision and killer knack for crafting memorable and emancipatory floor narratives. Brace yourselves.
