Portuguese based Nørbak returns to @Soma with his second single for the label, the "Myelination" EP. Nørbak is quickly making a name for himself in the global scene and has just complete his debut album to much critical acclaim. The young producer has built a wealth of knowledge on sound design and is clearly represented in his music which is deep and rich in sonic experiments whilst retaining dancefloor focus. This latest EP has Spanish Techno maestro Oscar Mulero & fellow Portuguese talent Lewis Fautzi, deliver two fantastic remixes that perfectly compliment the originals. 

Nørbak’s ‘Myelination’ starts the EP with driving percussive elements that propel the track from the opening. Swamped with light & ethereal FX, dark and droning sounds take the track down a ominous path. Lewis Fautzi steps up next with his remix of Myelination A more minimalistic interpretation he manages to continue the dark and direct momentum of the original. On the flip, Mirante rattle hards with steady and precise percussion, bolted together with heavy rolling kicks and sub and a perfectly muted rhythm throughout. Techno don Oscar Mulero closes the EP with his version of Mirante. He immediately ups the ante with driving 909 beats and huge atmospheric FX that guide the rhythms. Mulero always on point with his signature sound design and techno aesthetic.

Embarking on their 17th sonic sojourn shrouded in enigmatic allure and veiled in mystery, Observant presents the debut release of sr² — a purposeful new moniker of a well-known figure in the techno circuit since 2007. Formed to direct attention exclusively to music, eschewing the distractions of self-presentation, personality, and persona, it stands as an cryptic entity, a calculated construct devoted to the core of artistic expression.

This Leipzig-based producer presents three originals with a muscular onslaught advocated through all his years of experience producing, teaching, and running a record label. Further fortifying this release are two prodigious remixers, MSDMNR and Oxygeno, based in Berlin (DE) and Lugo (ES) respectively, packing that cutting-edge ballistics and unapologetic sophistication to temper techno’s thriving contemporary.

Within the shadows of 'Geschlossene Räume,' sr² crafts a world where gritty, mechanical rhythms intertwine with heady dissonant stabs, casting a spell of haunted otherworldly wonder. 'Serenität' offers a moment of respite with its skippy drums and sizzling subs that unexpectedly lead into a blossoming chord progression, beckoning the first rays of sunlight with an emotional heft. Full of strange rustling intertwined textures and chopped drones, 'Zugmaschine' is dark with absolutely no sign of any light around the corner.

In the realm of remixes, MSDMNR’s version of 'Geschlossene Räume' unveils cinematic sci-fi allure from the get-go, consistently keeping the original synth loop in focus, contrasted by the drum programming. Reimagining those textural layers from 'Zugmaschine' into his auditory kaleidoscope, Oxygeno spews a synthetic brew of articulated noises that swirl and throb over rippling kick drums and subs.

Rkay returns to his imprint Aespheric with a new five tracker "The Sight Of The Sun". This Ep replicates the warmth and might us humans feel from the sun's presence. The project rolls smoothly starting with the minimal and catchy "Before Dawn", A pitched low end paired with a progressive stab work well together to slowly rise the tension in this push and pull centred track. Next up is the dubby "Sunny Winter Morning" which is rich with chords panelling across each other followed by a pad that still finds space in order to work with other elements in the song. Track number three "Solar Surges" dips in tension a little bit however is replaced with an atmospheric and euphoric vibe as the main pad carries the sound throughout the track, then abruptly entering a short  break-breat saga within the middle of the song. Sounds dive a bit darker on "Sight Of The Setting Sun" whilst still keeping that rich warmth the previous tracks have possessed thanks to the lighthearted bassline that accompany the pounding toms and kick, outputting a smooth seven minutes. The last track "Into the Night" takes a total turn in sound as the name suggests. Not so smooth and not so warm, the sharp repetitive driving bells accompanied by the progressive pad pushes out a sense of darkness and urgency, however towards the end of the track in an abrupt manner sounds go back to warm and rich whilst still keeping that dark atmospheric vibe.

Lights Out Premiere: Pfirter - Purification [Mindtrip]

Young artist on the rise who knew how to stand out from the musical limits of his country. Jorge Cebrián aka Åre:gone, from Havana, Cuba, is positioned among the first lines of contemporary Techno. With almost 10 years of experience, he has transited through various expressions of the genre, standing out for his characteristic groovy, organic and Cuban touch.

In 2017 he founded with a group of friends the Rusty Nails collective, a space to promote the underground techno culture poorly known at that time in his country. Standing out for his long and liked sessions, which led him to gain the respect of the national public. Helping to build the solid foundations of what today is the Cuban techno scene. In 2022, he co-founded, together with other artists of national renown, what is today the Vórtice. The collective has become the main pillar of the national scene. 
 
His last Ep released on the Mexican label Anaøh, positioned him on the top of the sales charts of the most important digital stores. International artists such as Ben Sims, DVS1, just to mention a few, have played his music in the most important clubs and festivals of the international techno scene such as Berghain, Tresor among others. 
 
He currently resides in Florida, USA. Being faced with future limitations and repression from the Cuban government, Cuban artists with alternative approaches to established ones have been stifled in their creativity. This forced him and a large number of people to escape through Nicaragua to the United States.
