Bonsai Kat 'Bla Bla Bla Bla' Mix

Here is my latest mix. As always, this was done live using 2 Technics 1210's, Controller Vinyl, Serato,  Novation Dicers, Macbook Pro and a Rane TTM56 Mixer. The shoutouts were added later in Soundforge.

I do these mixes like this because I am bored of hearing studio tight mixes where the DJ doesn't actually do any work. You know the DJ's that time all their tracks up so they don't have to worry on the night! Or they use Ableton and just drop and play. This is me fighting the analogueness of the Technic Turntables, that classic drag and push vibe!

This mix contains tracks that we either wrote, remixed or released on our labels. A good few bootlegs on here too as I never seemed to play them and I quite like them now!

Basically Tayo is a legend when it comes to the breakbeat scene.....

After paying his warm up dues as a drum and bass DJ alongside Fabio, Grooverider and Peshay, Tayo set up Friction with fellow members of the breakbeat elite, Adam Freeland and Rennie Pilgrem and watched the club and it’s residents become a focal point for the UK breakbeat sound.

With other residencies back in the day at Fabric, Bugged Out! and Big Beat Boutique to name a few and various appearances on the Kiss FM Breakbeat show Tayo made a name for himself as a DJ playing along side the likes of Carl Cox, Layo & Bushwacka, Hybrid, Lee Burridge and Craig Richards as well as the endless people he met while on his travels around the world.

After a 2 month stint in Australia playing various clubs and festivals Tayo put together the exclusive mix for Triple J Radio back in January 2004.

Considered one of the pioneers of the Nu Skool Breaks sound and an innovative person in trying out new sounds Adam Freeland had many a hit back in the day specially with on his own label Marine Parade with which he promoted other top Breaks acts in the early 2000's. This mix was recorded for Australia's Triple J Radio back in 2004.

Enjoy this live recording of the Plump DJs (Grand Hotel Recordings) from the Space Cowboys' 13th annual Breakfast of Champions in San Francisco on New Year's Day. The Plumps were a surprise, unannounced addition to the line-up this year and to the delight of an unsuspecting crowd, they lit up the Funktion One stage as the sun was setting on yet another epic B.O.C. Plumps DJs are internationally renown UK DJ/Producer duo Andy Gardner and Lee Rous, whose passion for innovation and non-conformist attitude to electronic music has fuelled their fire for over a decade.
