"This was my second year in a row playing at The Cityfox Odyssey in which the first year I played was in the downtempo/ambient room.  When I wasn't djing at the event on New Years 2018 I was spending the majority of my time in Gunita's Tavern. So when New Years Eve 2019 came around I naturally wanted to be part of the Gunita's Tavern because of it's really heady vibe and underground feel that was a nice departure from the large rave it was a part of. It was also a place where you could unwind from the large crowds and the odds were better that you would run into a friend or more to have a good conversation while enjoying a drink. 

Rave culture had a lot of momentum coming into 2020 with optimism and excitement that had been building for most of that decade which resulted in more festivals and events due to popular demand. So ending the decade and bringing in a new one at The Cityfox Odyssey because Cityfox had been producing top notch events during this time period was special. I played during New Years day from 6-8pm while Jamie Jones and then Ame & Dixon were playing in the main room so the vibe was thick in the building. The crowd was in prime time form and they brought the energy that was the catalyst for my set. I instantly felt comfortable in the surroundings as a result and spent most of my time after my set in the tavern soaking up the vibes from the dj's sets that played after me. I stayed until the end in the tavern like I did the year before to conclude another memorable New Years day at Gunita's Tavern at The Cityfox Odyssey."

The elusive and prestigious duo composed of Listed veterans Bilaliwood and Rambo Springsteen, known affectionately to only the most in-the-know underground circles as 'Brownish', delivered a groovy and driving genre-spanning mix that kept the Tavern's fire burning into the new year.

In the artists' own words:
"They say that 'there is no place like home'.  And they are right.  On New Year's Day 2020, we had an opportunity to play the illustrious Gunita’s Tavern, that tiny sweatbox with killer sound, tucked away somewhere amongst the big stages of the Brooklyn Mirage. It REALLY was a party within a party. It brought close friends and strangers together to celebrate the dawn of a new decade. And the icing on the cake was that two long time friends were playing b2b, bilaliwood & Rambo Springsteen, and as members of the BROWNISH collective (we have the tshirts to prove it!). We had no real gameplan to the start of our year but the name of the game was a little groove & a lot of fun...and that's exactly what we did!  What a morning it was!"

Saturday, March 2, 2013, at San Francisco's indomitable EndUp: for the fourth edition of the monthly PLAY party series, Listed Productions brought together four acts that upon first glance may have raised eyebrows, but in the end, made perfect sense.  Masters of their crafts with range as wide as their experiences, each artist played off of one another brilliantly to weave together a night as memorable for its cogency as its sonic diversity.  @Naveen-G opened the floor, building track upon perfect track, patiently whetting the crowd's appetite before Trouw resident @Patrice-Baumel took all on a journey as heady as it was flat-out dance-able.  But before @Three launched into an epic 4+ hour set through the sunrise, @JenoVoid anchored the entire night as only he could, with this, a 2 hour masterpiece that is at once psychedelic, sophisticated and relentless as it carries listeners through ebbs and flows, a brand of hypnotizing acid house that's made him a San Francisco legend.

"Gunita’s Tavern has become one of the best gigs to play on New Year’s. 2019 and 2020 was even better. It was a great night, I played after @bilaliwood & @rambospringsteen and they had set the pace to get the party started. But in order further elevate the party, I felt I had to grab everyone’s attention. So I played this tripped out remix of “Back to Life” by Hostox, which did the trick. Now once we got both turntables hooked up. I was able to comfortably do my thing. Which was to drop some dope new tunes from Blind Vision along with a Medway’s classic banger “Resurrection” on Hooj tunes. Given we only had about ninety minutes each to play, I believe I played a set that showcased the various styles and sounds that define #ligerhouse."

"The best way for me to describe my set would be groovy. It was very exciting to play in such a cozy room like the Tavern alongside such great artists. I wanted to keep the vibes a bit minimal and Underground since a lot of the other rooms were playing a lot harder. My set time was around 1pm on New Year's Day, so I knew most people had been partying throughout the night into the next day. I just tried to imagine what I would want to hear after being at such a great party that seemed to never end. With that said, I tried to curate a playlist of tracks that kept people's energy without being too overbearing. The sound system in the Tavern was great, that was the icing on the cake to make everything exceed my expectations. All in all I think the Tavern was my favorite room of the event."

"Gunita's Tavern, a hidden hideaway within the sprawling Brooklyn Mirage / Avant Gardner New Year's Day extravaganza, was bursting with afternoon energy leading up to my 2pm set time… some real afterparty vibes that far into a 36 hour event (or however long the whole party was hehe), which of course made it thoroughly enjoyable. And the intimacy of that space contrasted with these humongous stages at the Mirage made it feel even more special somehow. Finding the room, via a random unmarked staircase, was like a treasure hunt. Gunita’s party within a party concept definitely had us all smiling ear to ear!"

Known for her all-female underground house event Queens of Noise and specializing in bringing the vibe, we just had to have Orlando house staple Lola B. back to the Tavern in 2019! Giving her the coveted responsibility of ringing in the new year, she did not disappoint with an excellent set that spans the spectrum of dance music.

"This was my second year to play The Cityfox Odyssey in Gunita’s Tavern. My first year I kicked the night off and this set from the second year, I played 2nd taking everyone up to the ball drop. With an eclectic and varied taste in music and a determined approach to crate digging, I am always ready for a challenge. The always welcoming vibe Gunita brings to her events really leaves us as DJ’s able to have fun and feel comfortable.  This was an excellent night filled with thick vibes and wonderful music and friends.  Such a stellar way to kick off the New Year!!!"

Veteran English DJ, prolific producer, and label boss (of multiple imprints), Lee Coombs has been making waves in the underground for over 30 years. "Gunita’s tavern was a blast! More like that dream house party with friends we all love rather than a huge event. I have known Gunita for 20 years+ from our San Francisco shenanigans. This made it all the more special. The main floors at Brooklyn Mirage are very large but it was a breath of fresh air to find the stairs that led to Gunita’s Tavern! I played an eclectic selection of edits and tunes that i knew would rock the NYE floor. Acid and Electro, New and Old school all night long…"

"My friends at disco knights were kind enough to let me play at their fundraiser. I support what they do, especially at Burning Man, so i was stoked to be able to play for them.

My personal title to this mix is: "No Pictures Cuz She Didn't Take Any <insert sad face> @ Disco Knights Jun-22"

The opening track (by Pharoah Sanders) I heard for the first time when DJ Kemit played it on his Saturday morning Twitch stream. In fact, almost every Saturday started with this song. Definitely check his Twitch stream out. The rest of the mix I unintentionally played for her. She didn't know at the time. But I told her later. <3

The dance music portion of the mix is heavily influenced by some of my favorite artists in the business, in particular, Kai Alce and Louie Vega. I am constantly learning a lot. And I love it all the time. And I hope it shows."

bilaliwood - "starting things up" - Live at Disco Knights Fundraiser June '22

2024 started off with a bang and certainly it was reflected at the Avant-Gardner in Brooklyn NY at The Sanctuary stage curated by Listed Productions,  as the combo of Nikita b2b Umee Dee with special trumpet performance by the local legend Greg Paulus created a lovely 2 hours journey that made people chill, relax, and dance. This live mix is incredibly special as it captures the first few hours of 2024 as we ( Umee Dee, Nikita, Greg Paulus) played a  hybrid DJ/trumpet performance at the chill “Sanctuary” space to the reveling dancers  at the legendary @AvantGardnerBK club in New York City for #NYE2023 becomes 2024. Although we had prepped for the set  in our studio, the energy of the crowds and the vibe of the Sanctuary fine tuned our synergy to the next next level: the tracks andacapellas mixed in by @UmeeDeeMusic + @nikitaneverstops and the incredible live melodies by @GregPaulusMusic serendipitously baked a truly unique sonic flow state. We trust this recording reignites the bliss for the people there and kindles the flow state of just… being… human beings. "I haven't played at Cityfox in NY since moved to LA a little over 4 years ago. Anytime I have played there during my years living in NY, my favorites times are the ones where I play in a room that Gunita has programmed. Usually a small room packed with familiar faces and strangers who have just discovered this tiny escape from the main stages. Musically, the room caters to a 'anything goes' vibe, which i love most, for obvious reasons.

The week of the gig, I was already in NY and I did see friends, including Gunita and Simar. Gunita told me  was closing her stage "Lucy's in the Sky". And for whatever reason unknown to me... I had already decided the trajectory of my set in my head. It didn't matter to me what was happening before my start time, but I knew the first song. And I kept telling Gunita and Simar, "just fyi... I am going to start with some banging acid track..."  to which they replied "yeah, sure, do whatever you want".  The reason I mention this is:
1. they haven't particularly heard me play "hard" techno-ey tracks often... not that this mix is hard... like i said, i had a trajectory in mind for closing the stage.
2. i knew Simar would be thrown off, when the time came, at my set.  

And so i arrive to Cityfox's Halloween Festival at the Brooklyn Mirage,  45min before my set time, and its late, and its cold, and my stage is up in a tower....OUTSIDE... but i was prepared...that is, warmly dressed. And loved every minute that i got to just play out the closing hour, up in that tower, for those few that braved the cold. By the time i was done, the sun had already started to rise. And that sorta ties to the trajectory of the set. 

Shout out to Cowboy Roy, Hernan and of course, Simar for sticking with me outside the entire time. If i miss NYC for anything, its for the people.

bilaliwood - Cityfox Halloween LIVE 2024 (Lucy's in the Sky stage)

Kicking things off right, episode number one on the podcast series is a live recording of an incredible set by Danny Howells during <a href="http://vimeo.com/37171819">listed's Freaky Tikki boat party</a> at the 2011 Winter Music Conference in Miami. Danny took to the decks around 10am on a beautiful Friday morning and wasted no time getting down to business after a sultry morning set by Cassy and opening set by listed resident Nikita. His mix is full of timeless, infectiously melodic house grooves that perfectly matched the party's setting, showering the audience with big sunny sounds and waves of positive vibes. As ever, Danny managed to do it all while maintaining a strict underground sensibility, showcasing a mix of upfront and classic tracks with a rich variety of organic textures. Needless to say, the sand-topped boat full of 150 dedicated morning-time partiers was more than happy to hear it.

listed Podcast [001]: Danny Howells on the Freaky Tikki 2011

The second installment of the listed Podcast comes from a pair of true professionals, <a href="http://www.soundcloud.com/m-a-n-d-y">Philipp Jung (M.A.N.D.Y.)</a> and <a href="http://soundcloud.com/deejaytea/">DJ T</a>.  Longtime conspirators, they co-founded the renowned <a href="http://soundcloud.com/get-physical-music/">Get Physical</a> imprint all the way back in 2002. Coupled with a steady schedule of gigs and productions, Philipp and Thomas have used the label as a platform to push a unique brand of upfront dance music across the world.

This mix, recorded live on <a href="http://www.listedproductions.com">listed Productions</a> and <a href="http://www.magneticgrooves.com/">Magnetic Grooves'</a> Sunday morning <a href="https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150790316043623.483525.10116133622&type=3">Ship of Fools</a> at WMC 2012 in Miami, reflects the nature of Get Physical. It is music that leaves you no choice but to be in touch with your body - feeling the gentle sway of the grooves and nodding your head to well-chosen hooks that are tasty and playful, but never obvious. Perfectly paced for a Sunday morning affair, the set went down soon after sunrise on a boat full of silly partiers too dedicated to sleep (or too tired to go home). With the ship steadily rocking and rolling across the waves, the dancers found themselves doing just the same, responding to the irresistible push and pull of a sophisticated but danceable sound that left everyone as energized as they were exhausted.

Things come to a poignant close with a dreamy edit, Amine Edge's mashup of Solomun's "He Is Watching You" with an all-time classic a-capella from Celeda, fitting for the home stretch of an amazing (and amazingly tiring) week in Miami - "if you feel that you can take no more, and your feet are headed for the door, gotta keep on dancin' ... groovin', keep on movin' ... music is the answer." This lovely message mixes into the beautiful restorative vibes of Pépé Bradock's "Deep Burnt" - a delicious and relaxing antidote, wrapping things up in a soft blanket of spring sunshine.

This past March marked listed's annual pilgrimage to Miami for a melee of musical magic that is Winter Music Conference, the centerpiece of which was once again Friday morning's annual Freaky Tikki boat cruise, an intimate 150 person dawn to lunch time affair. After each delivered incredible performances in 2011, <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/dannyhowellsdj">Danny Howells</A> and <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cassy-Britton/207845458637"> Cassy</A> returned to the decks, this time deepening their collaboration with an impromptu four hour B2B tag-team extravaganza that followed an oh-so-smooth, steady build <A HREF="http://www.electronicgroove.com/EG335Dory.php">opening set</A> by listed resident <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/djd0ry">Dory</A>.

<A HREF="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0rxWhVGoZw&hd=1">Sensitive as ever to the environment and vibe</A>, Danny and Cassy laid down a blissful set of classic summertime house music. Bouncy basslines bopping along like butterflies across the beach, with festive flourishes of filtered funk and gravy-smooth grooves greeting the sunshine, carrying an all too merry crowd along for the ride, <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151245453723623.529308.10116133622&type=3">whilst immersed in good company and stellar sound.</A>

The duo's impressive longevity and musical range were on full display as they seamlessly mixed fresh sounds with some tasty vintage selections, digging deeper (as Danny does) all the way back to classics like the Salt City Orchestra's 1998 remix of the Sneaker Pimps "Post-Modern Sleaze" (2hrs38mins) or Global Communication's 1996 "The Way" (2hrs57mins), led by new favorites like Marcus Homm's "Keyframe Signal" (36min) and blending perfectly into modern classics like Dan Ghenacia and Shonky's newly minted "Close to the Edge" (3hrs6mins).  All in all, an amazing auditory adventure and a real treat for those lucky enough to find themselves aboard.

Keeping the vibes strong through the afternoon NYD, ebb + flow / Abracadabra TV resident Saqib electrified the dance floor in the special corner of Avant Gardner we know and love, Gunita's Tavern.

"This set was a very fun, high energy set that was based off the energy in the room that New Year's Day 2020. The room was bumping and jumping. There was a huge rush of excitement for this new decade and new year twenty fuggin twenty! Perfect vision.  It was so innocent, so sweet, our enthusiasm... so precious, haha! This was actually my favorite set of the last year or two... and looking back now... it was such a perfect beginning to such a terrible year! I can never forget this night/day."

A seasoned sonic manipulator, it was <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/djmarkhenning">Mark Henning's</A> 2008 album Jupiter Jive, released on Scotland's iconic Soma Recordings, that placed him firmly on the map of dance producers clearly destined to stick around. In the years since he has continued to evolve, honing a unique brand of edgy tech house that combines understated musical sensibilities with crisp technical production and razor-sharp sound design. His heady, driving style has also garnered him a spot as one of the mainstays on Zürich's Cityfox label release schedule.

This live set recording showcases exactly what Henning does best. In November 2012, <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/cityfoxcircle">Cityfox</A> teamed up with <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/listedproductions">Listed Productions</A> to create <A HREF="http://www.thecityfoxexperience.com/113012/index.html">The Cityfox Experience</A>, a marquee underground showcase with a level of production the likes of which New York City has rarely seen. The event featured a 24 point 3D surround sound system, a complement of custom physical art, video and LED lighting installations, and a stacked lineup of Cityfox and Listed artists tag teaming two floors of an amazing two story, block long gallery space in the heart of Manhattan. Kicking off with a big bouncy bass line, Mark took to the stage in the middle of the night, the dance floor lively and well primed to keep moving after a solid set by <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/adriatiqueofficial">Adriatique</A>. He wasted no time getting down to business, taking the sound darker as the night progressed. A mix of punchy percussion, wicked basslines fiercely gripping the audience's eardrums, twisted vocal effects, ambient washes ebbing and flowing throughout. All the while making for an amazing vibe and a magical night that will be remembered for a long time to come.
