Here is an ambient / chillout mix which was shared at Shangri-La in the magical location of Monchique Algarve, south of Portugal. A beautiful gathering with workshops, handmade markets, holistic therapies and performances. In untouched nature with beautiful plants and flora, rivers and open hearted visitors. Heaven on Earth, the garden of eden. I shared a selection of my favorite chillout and ambient tracks from various artists to support this setting. The mix is also partly an Ishq tribute 🙂. Chillout DJ set ☯︎ 🌿 Shangri La, Portugal 08.05.2022 🌱 ☯︎

My reworking of the set that I played at the ZNA Gathering on August 19, 2022, from 11 am to 130 pm. 

In the weeks and months leading up to event, I was ruminating over various tracks and ended up with about 8 hours in a shortlist for my 2.5 hour set (and I am never restricted to only the ones in the playlist but those are often the ones I feel more drawn to). As I worked on various flows in practice sessions, I was primarily aware of how I wanted to begin and end: starting with a blend of some excerpts from the three unreleased tracks that closed my 2019 Goa Guardians set (with the intention of making the intervening 3 years 'collapse'), paying homage to Olli with the first kicking track of my set and some others, and having Tiny Little Engines be the climax. 

Although I am generally as known for my access to unreleased music as I am for my meandering storylines, this set was a bit different. A lot of artists continually tell me that the released versions were chosen for a reason: because they are great; and while some unreleased edits are of course amazing, lack of availability is not the only reason to play a track. I am constantly amazed by the astounding music that we have in our genre and I wanted to craft an upbeat story for that middle-of-the-day time of my set, so it was this vibe and character that were primary in my selection ... so even if it might seem to some like something of a selection of popular classics with fewer gear changes than I often incorporate into my sets, it's still (in my opinion) 'all killer, no filler' in a sequence that tells a cohesive flow-filled story, and the crowd was certainly beyond enthusiastic in its response.

I've replaced only one of the unreleased tracks I played at the event with the issued version as I know the artists did not want the unissued mix published.

I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did playing it - it was an unforgettable experience with an incredibly enthusiastic and responsive forest dance floor!

Bliss

Reconnective Dance was back in a wonderful new indoor location to share the trance dance experience together again. We invited the 'PowerSnail' sound system of the City Nomads (Stads Nomaden) for a fantastic sound.

In this mix musical styles are varied: Tribal, Bass, Shamanic, World, Tech, Dubstep, Psychedelic Trance, Goa Trance. Starting with a sense of peaceful meditative ambiance, building with a smooth blend of acoustic and electronic beats to an ecstatic climax of groovy trance inducing music. 'Awake the Snake' - Ecstatic Dance DJ set ☤ Michi, Netherlands 06.03.2023 ☤

A nearly 3-hour set that I played on Saturday April 8, 2023 at a private event in Ottawa, Canada at the invitation of Clone604. 

I was due to play for two hours and then with one DJ being indisposed that was bumped up to two and a half hours - and then during the party the host asked if I would keep playing a bit longer.

It was a really fun event, small and intimate with a fantastic vibe on the part of the dancers who were really into the Goa sound - a rarity anywhere in Canada these days.

Return of the Quetzalcoatl

Twin Flame Dolphins is one of the more crazy, magical and epic tracks of the artist ARI333. As you listen you are sucked into an engulfing atmospheric introduction, taken on a deep and hypnotic journey alongside dolphins and their caressing dreamy melodies which touch the soul. This piece will give you goosebumps with its beautiful arpeggios laid on top of groovy rhythmic psychedelic beats.

This musical experience is touching as it tells the story of a young man's search for sanity after becoming roommates with his twin flame soul mate, which was truly an initiation bringing up overwhelming karma and trauma to the surface. In order to know if it was the right choice to pursue this relationship, on a hopeless day, he asked god for 3 signs of dolphins to appear in his life in the coming three days, in any shape or form. And lo and beheld, three dolphins appeared, in the weirdest places, in the next three days. It was dolphinicity...

Twin Flame Dolphins

It was sunset, so I prepared the transition from light into dark. And so we danced with peaceful blessing melodies and merged with the soft yellow and dark orange rays of the setting sun. A smile to welcome the thick warm radiance within every cell of our bodies. We are blessed. 

As the light falls we meet each other around unexplainable shades once again. Time stops and we dance into trance under the distant stars.

And so there I was in moroccan desert tent after a nostalgic sunset, between crops of wheat in the most western part of the country. The grass around filled with nomads who gather with their vans from the vast corners of the land.

In the red and green tent there were stuffed animals, owls, ducks, ferrets, foxes, pheasants wrapped in christmas lights. There were men and women who knew friendship, pleasure and loss, gathered in front of a blasting soundsystem, on a quest for freedom for one weekend.

As the beat hits hard and the melodies blend hypnotically the crowd is moving as a whole, the heat is rising, it becomes ritual, we become tribal. We were so remote that no neighbours could have heard what happened that night. I knew I would feel nostalgia on the way home...

We worked day and night to create a tribal gathering, in a garden of eden. Many came together from different angles of a busy city life to become one expression of great spirit. We opened our hearts with the medicine cacao. We sang together, shared our song and voice. All voices became one. After embracing the rays of the sun on the edge of the horizon, a musical journey began emitted from a crystal clear sound system. With melodies from the far east, to the wild west over a pulsating kick and bass. We danced and moved as we wanted, celebrated the longest day of the year to the rhythm of the beat.

We danced softly, gracefully, tenderly and wildly, crazily, weirdly, until the flowers fell out of our hair. We transformed everything from the inside out.

We demanded nothing, and judged no one, we didn't care what the others thought. 

We plunged into the moment, moved with it, witnessing a river of joy inside of us. We found freedom, happiness, our souls were radiating, shining.

'Day out of Time' Ecstatic Dance DJ Set 🙏 Vlierhof, Nijmegen 16.09.2023 🙏

A mix I created at the invitation of Marios Makar of Total Eclipse for his Dice Radio program. It was requested in late September and the due date ended up being days after the attack on a party in our community that has shaken our scene and the world dramatically. 

I was not particularly in the mood to hear music but gathered my forces and focused on channeling my emotions and energy into creating this story. 

Beginning with the track Reboot (live mix by Etnica & Pleiadians) and ending with Sense of Unity, the new production by Prana (the first time the three musicians from the two incarnations of the group have come together to create a track), I thought that 'Reboot Unity' would be an appropriate title - a concept very much on my mind from the beginning to the end of this mix and very much at the forefront of my thoughts these days with the awful violence and divisiveness that's plaguing the world right now. 

May we all experience, embody, and connect with each other from that innate sense of unity that is our true being.

A new path has to be taken, and there will be obstacles and challenges which are to be faced and overcome on the way...

From the start of this piece we are transported into a deep and mystical ambience, engulfed by organic textures and ethnic instruments played by Breathing Rivers. The voice of Nienke SoulSound takes us into the journey with optimism. The song builds up to a tribal bass experience, and after a magical and dreamy break, we are engaged with a trance inducing groove. We end softly landing with a caressing devotional salutation to 'the remover of obstacles'.

This song is a collaboration between ARI333, Nienke SoulSound and Breathing Rivers with an unconventional build, incorporating electronic music and production values with ethnic acoustic instruments.

The Remover Of Obstacles (feat. Nienke SoulSound & Breathing Rivers)

A reworking of the set that I played at the VER: Exploring the Roots event in Goa, India on February 3, 2024.

I was given a sunset time slot on the Saturday of the 3-day event and my initial time of 90 minutes expanded to two hours, so I had an opportunity to go in a few different directions. I opted for a few longer, more lyrical mixes in the latter half to provide some breathing room and connect some melodic riffs from one track to the next.

It was a magical event, my first time in Goa and an amazing way to start the 30th anniversary year of my introduction to this global dance movement. I am so grateful and honoured to have had the opportunity to be there, and I am happy to share the story that was shared at the time.

Nulfest has always been a special event for me as a DJ. It's a place where I have been able to express myself fully musically and where the audience has always been fantastic. I am very grateful for this 🙏  As it had to be cancelled this weekend I wanted to express my gratitude and joy with a tribute DJ set which I would have played on the saturday night between 22u and 01u. I hope this way the tribe can still get a taste of the party! Rave on!
