A composition made using the SERGE analog synthesizer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serge_synthesizer) and field recordings done around the Bard College campus. Ambient and needed to be listened to on a stereo system to enjoy the effect of the panning. I think I got a little crazy with some of the hard pans though. :)

Zen Meditation on Musique Concrete with SERGE (2006)

This mix was made by recording songs off CD and casette onto analog tape, then splicing the tape into samples or "perfect" loops. All edited by hand with a razor and splicing tape. Some of the loops were re-recorded onto another tape because, in the end, all the loops were taped together to make one long song that was recorded to casette. In fact, were there two tape machines? Some are even playing backwards, can't you tell? 

Mixtape (2006)

This is a performance piece that I made by taking a sample of carousel music from the beginning of Velvet Acid Christ's song "Hallucinagen" and making a loop out if it. I played the loop through a speaker and then mic'd the speaker to create a new recording of the loop. That loop would then be played through the speaker and mic'd, and so on and on until there were about 32 generations of the loop. By the end, it had degraded into pure noise. The performance part was that the audience sat in a pitch black room with a 4 corner sound system where each speaker was on a separate channel connected to a solar-powered midi controller. When light would hit one of the panels, it would trigger one of the loops going to a speaker. The performer would stand with a flashlight on stage and move the light to each panel so as the song moved around in a circle around the audience, it got progressively more noisy. The recording is very low, so you will have to turn it up, but BE WARNED it gets intense quickly.

Carousel (2006)

A collection of my own compositions from my college years. I wanted to do this more for archiving reasons since this stuff is all on random drives, CDs, and DVDS. So listen, laugh, think, and enjoy! I apologize in advance for the crappiness of some of these recordings....
