Today marks three years of life without you, mom.

People say it gets easier, but I have learned that the grieving process is subjective. For me, every day, I am forced to learn how to live without you. The feeling behind knowing I have zero control over this process has created a lot frustration as I deal with the emotions as a result. I think it is important for those who have lost a loved one, and for those who have not, to know that the grieving process is different for everyone. There is no amount of time at which we can say, “Ah! Now I feel normal again.”

For me, I am still learning what life means without the one person who I never imagined I’d have to breathe on this earth without. One of the ways in which I cope with this kind of sadness is writing. Whether I am writing songs, journal entries or social media posts; the ability for me to put my thoughts into actual words is something that helps to understand just what it is that I am feeling.

As you may have imagined, I have written song after song about the pain of losing my mom.

One song in particular, that I have titled, “Eternity,” is a song I have been consistently working on for the past year. I had yet to record it, but today, I wanted to be able to share this song with you all. While I am petrified of allowing anyone to hear some of my most intimate thoughts, if this song can be of help to even just one person dealing with a loss of any kind, then I know it was worth it.
