Very proud of this one day session with my Yamaha audiogram and Audacity.  This is a spacey-airy version of Change is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke, with a sparse but heavy bottom end. Enjoy

I prepared this for my thesis defense of Nov. 24th.  Although I didn't get the chance to play the file, it was a lot of fun making it.  My defense went off really well, despite me getting the time wrong and arriving half an hour late!! I spoke without notes or power-point, answered the questions and then got a 2-minute decision.  No second round of questions, no revisions! It felt great.  The thesis is about the history and future of scholarship - in particular Open Access going forward.  The thesis is entitled 'Toward Global Open Scholarship" and it was defended at the School of International Development and Global Studies, University of Ottawa.  It will be submitted shortly and soon I'll get my M.A. :)

Arif's debut album 'Aya' was released in Feb. 2012.  The album features compelling lyrics and songs, most of which were composed in the 1990s.   The album was recorded with excellent production and top microphones that really capture the instrumentation.  There is guitar, sitar, ukelele and bass by Arif, solid in-the pocket drumming by Michael Brittain and strong tablas by Reaz Bacchus.  All songs were written, composed and arranged by Arif with support by Andrew Brittain of Mudshark, who contributed solid licks to Track 2, a jazz-rock-spoken word piece Coffee Break.  Andrew and Arif go back to Grade 5, and the album was recorded in Andrew's family home where they grew up..
