It's the ten year anniversary of the Pause Tape 2 [Mixtape]
This mix was kinda done as a tribute to the dj's I grew up listening too & was inspired by. Dj's like Too Tuff from Tuff Crew & Jazzy jeff as well as Dj Supreme & Undercover from the mighty Hijack. To me those Dj's (plus many others) were the main focus of the music as far as I was concerned. A prime example being Mr Mixx from The 2 Live Crew, I really didn't care for their lyrics but I loved the Dj only tracks like "Mr Mixx on the mix" etc
This mix references the great Mantronix, the way he edited tracks was pure genius. And so it's also a throwback to the pause button edit mixtapes that most of us started our journey into sampling with.
It's a rough & gritty ride through battle breaks, dusty samples & heavy cutting.
There are way too many tracks & samples to list (there are a few of my old tracks hidden in there as well). All I can remember is a hugh pile of records & a busted Vestax PMC 06 battle mixer at the end of doing this mix.

Prepare for pops,crackles,hiss and poor recordings as i go back to the very beginning for me with a short tribute mix to the legendary original voice of Hip Hop ,Mike Allen. Mike was a legend in Hip Hop radio in the UK who schooled many people during the mid 80s via his weekend shows on Capital Radio in London. Without him many of us who lived outside London and couldn’t pick up the pirate stations would have had no weekly access to new releases, never known about Groove Records, the famous import shop in Soho, and never gone to events like UK Fresh ’86 or Freestyle ’85. His Capital Rap Show (aka Allen’s Army on Maneuvers) ran from late 1984 to July 1987. During 1985 it ran on Friday, Saturday & Sunday but changed to Friday & Saturday during ’86 and ’87

Jimmy Dore met me at All Things Comedy studios to explain to me exactly what a progressive is. I've found more and more that I relate to his views on politics more than most people. The distrust in journalism, the desire to get out of war, the feeling that the government is neither left nor right but rather serving the people or serving themselves. He's a passionate man and you can find lots of his stuff on youtube on The Jimmy Dore Show. By the way, this took me fucking 4 days to edit and export in iMovie. I have GOT to get a producer to do this stuff for me. I just don't think anyone will get the music stuff down the way I'd like it done.
