The year is, once again, 2004:

I had written a backing track for my own fun and posted it on my web site at the time. Then, the night after, I have a dream. I am playing with keyboardist extraordinaire Jens Johansson (Stratovarius, Heavy Machinery, The Last Viking etc.).

I wake up in the morning and find out that Jens himself had taken my track and, instead of doing his tasks for the day, he had spent good part of the afternoon playing over it (plus he added some synth bass lines).

So there you have it, a divination event! Now you might think I bribed Jens? No. I asked Jens? No. I knew Jens? No. I made him pizza and some other irresistible italian recipe? No.

This is a short clip of a solo I wrote for Chaos Venture, a progressive rock project that I joined, with tons of synth sounds and keyboards in general.

The project started all the way back in 2007-8 and was released in 2009 as a debut single. Songwriting, production, arranging, performing, recording, mixing and mastering.. you could say I am a bit everywhere in that project.

In this clip I play a solo in duet after the electric guitar. Nord Lead 2X into a Morley JD10 as a homage to keyboardist Jens Johansson (he used a lot of JD10 in his records).

Most synth parts come from virtual instruments: Massive, Absynth, you name it. But there's lots of Nord Lead in there. The piano part is a tweaked patch from, I don't remember, maybe EXS24 in Logic.

The year is 2004.

I had a lot of fun transcribing this for a gig and I thought about recording it over the original part. I wasn't supposed to play the solo live, but I couldn't resist so here it is. Brian Bromber is a bass virtuoso with lots of great credits, his "Bass Ackwards" is not only hard to spell (had to double check) but also a great album with lots of amazing ideas and talented musicians. The songwriting is also very good, in my opinion.

Anyway, this was my Nord Lead 3 with maybe no FX, pedals or other outboard..Maybe not, at the time I had an LPX-5 and some old Korg pedals I got for a steal. Shame on me for selling them.

I am a pianist and keyboards player who is in love with music.

I write and arrange for other artists and musicians but also for soundtracks and video games. I teach, produce and make records, too.
