Musical beginnings?

I got into electronic music at the age of 14 through my older cousin. He gave me Prodigy and Moby on the good old mixtape. I listened to that for years until I got bored with it. After times of rock, new metal and rap, I only came back to electronic music when I moved to Offenbach am Main. I lived within walking distance of the Robert Johnson Club, which I visited almost every weekend. I was fascinated by the versatility and variability of the music. I quickly started to get to know the different subgenres and to collect music myself. I didn't actually start djing until years later during my studies in Würzburg. An acquaintance from my old home gave me two turntables and a mixer. I also bought a tractor toy from Native Instruments. From then on, I rehearsed on both almost every day, much to the chagrin of my housemates at the time. After a while, I started uploading my mixes to Soundcloud 2010-2012, the scene was still quite small. I quickly met Uwe aka Elektro Uwe who pushed me and my sound. I also met an old companion at a seminar. The two of us joined forces with another person and started to organise the legendary picnic events in Würzburg. After that, everything went quite fast and I got bookings from all over Germany and abroad.

Key experience in your musical career?

One of my key experiences that got me into DJing was about 13 years ago at the Nation Of Gondwana during Mano Le Tough's performance. His sound was truly unique for that time and literally fit like a glove there and at that moment. Sunshine, Sunday afternoon and lots of relaxed, dancing people. Add to that his bass-heavy, super spherical sound. One goosebump moment followed the next. And that for over 3 hours. Wow. In retrospect, I have to admit that not only this performance, but his sound and his set conception in general have influenced me quite strongly in my own style.

First thing you do when the pandemic is over?

From a musical perspective, I obviously wish for a quick end to the measures by the German government. Not only for me, but of course also for the whole scene itself. I would wish a quick resumption for everyone involved, no matter if club owners, bouncers, bar staff, technicians, bookers, etc. The only thing I lack is the belief in it. Even despite the vaccine. If the German government continues to stick rigidly to the incidence value and the related testing strategy as the only constant for assessing the pandemic situation, nothing will change quickly. As things stand at present, there will be no big events. Perhaps the next government will come up with something better, more freedom- and culture-friendly. That is the only glimmer of hope I have for germany. Otherwise, I see no hope for the majority of the current German club scene.
However, I will be playing festivals abroad this summer. The next festival is the LAZ Festival 2021 in Poland. I'm particularly looking forward to that. Besides the festival and playing in front of people, I can finally see my family again, which I've been missing since the beginning of the pandemic.

Favourite Recipe and Secret Ingredient?

I don't really have a favourite recipe. I love to cook almost every day, but I haven't really stuck to recipes for a long time. And most vegan recipes don't really blow me away, to be honest, or are either quite similar or unhealthy in the long run (burgers etc.).
Secret ingredient? Phew, depends on the dish. With vegan sausages, for example, cooked rice is a must, along with many other ingredients. It makes the sausages quite fluffy and juicy in combination with saitan etc. For salad dressings, I swear by the cumin, coriander and nutmeg spice mix. It really adds that certain something to the sauce that blows everyone away. I won't tell you more about my secret kitchen weapons here. Just come by and let me surprise you.

Since he first came into contact with the labels "Kompakt" and "Pampa" about 15 years ago, the variation of abstract techno and house music has captivated him and has never let him go. In the beginning only a music consumer, he developed a passion for djing in 2009. Not only the driving groove is in the foreground.  In his sets he puts a lot of emphasis on a mixture of nebulous wafting ambient surfaces, rich and clear bass drums, clicking hi-hats, as well as dignified rhythm and tempo changes including some goosebumps moments. Despite his alternative touch, because of his suggestively dark appearance, his sets are suitable for dance floors as well as for couches.  Through the time he developed a passion for two styles.  Hypnodance and Hypnodream. The first represents hypnotic floor to the floor tracks and the second hypnotic downtempo.
Sometimes deep, sometimes rave, but still minimal driving.  
Since 2012 he is also a blogger and has started at DAS SCHÖNE LEBEN writing & supporting newcomer. Since 2013 he is also a leading member of @afterhour-sounds (since 2019 curator) and resident of @kollektiv-liebe , Australians @HALFWILD and Berlins @OEWERALL.

Short Circuit 003 by Arkadiusz.

Our next episode comes from a very special sound lover called arkadiusz. He created a wonderful podcast for us, which disturbs the neighbours at a very smooth pace. His musical direction can be described as "hypnochill", which we  can fully understand after listening to the set.

Ich öffne meine Augen und nehme mit vernebelten Verstand den blauen Himmel wahr. Mit meiner Handfläche ertaste ich das satte Grün unter mir. Als ich den Kopf drehe erblicke ich, mit immer noch leicht verschwommenen Blick, zappelnde Gestalten. Sie bewegen sich rhythmisch hin und her. Wohlige Wärme durchströmt meinen Körper als eine strahlend weiße Wolke den Platz für die Sonne frei macht. Langsam setze ich mich auf und meine Synapsen werden weiter mit Eindrücken geflutet. Aus verschwommenen schwarzgrau wird pfauenfeder-bunt. Lachen und wilder Tanz bestimmt die Szenerie, die umrahmt wird von elektronischen Kompositionen. Alle scheinen so frei und unbeschwert zu sein. Es herrscht eine Schwerelosigkeit des Seins wie bei Kindergeburtstagen aus früheren Zeiten. Die Umgebung ist detailverliebt geschmückt und die Teilnehmer dieses fantasievollen Kongresses scheinen dem Alltag nie begegnet zu sein. Voller Freude erhebe ich mich und begebe mich ins Getümmel. Ich schwebe durch diesen lauen Sommertag und lasse mich treiben durch ungeahnte Sphären. Die Momente scheinen unendlich zu sein und pure Inspiration wird in meinen Verstand injiziert. Ich tanze, lache, quatsche, spiele, entdecke und scheine den Garten Eden gefunden zu haben. Ein Rave im Grünen wie eine Offenbarung. Wann kommt nur endlich wieder der Frühling und die Zeit der gemeinsamen Verzückung.

Arkadiusz lässt euch heute seine Version einer bunten Tüte elektronischer Beats probieren. Dabei hat der Curator von Afterhour Sound unterschiedliche Stile passend in einander übergeblendet und somit einen treibenden Flow geschaffen! Wir freuen uns euch Arkadiusz hier auf deep stories präsentieren zu können.

So langsam reicht es dann jetzt auch mit dem Winter; eben noch die ersten Sonnenstrahlen durch jede mögliche Körperzone inhaliert, grüßen uns dann doch noch mal kurz ein paar eisige Temperaturen. Nichtsdestotrotz sitzen wir schon tief in den Plänen für den kommenden Sommer.
Einige von euch dürfen sich freuen, auf das, was so kommen mag. - Was meinen die da bloß? -

Aber ganz entspannt, erst einmal wollen wir gemeinsam mit Arkadiusz aus dem wunderschönen Spessart, DJ & Curator von Afterhour-Sounds, ne ausgiebige Runde auf unserem Karussell drehen. 
Den meisten wird er durch seine fein abgestimmten, fluiden Sets ein Begriff sein, mit denen er uns schon seit einigen Jahren beglückt. Viele verbinden eher Downtempo mit ihm, doch auch unter dem Begriff „Hypnodance“ lässt er mal eine etwas andere, schnellere und auch deepe, gefühlvolle Seite raus. Wer sich davon überzeugen lassen will, sollte sich unbedingt den Mitschnitt von seinem kürzlichen Ausflug in der Waldschänke Dornheim reinziehen – grandios!

Nun, aber hier und heute gibt es wie gewohnt einen sehr harmonischen Mix der Kategorie Slowrave.
