Fresh of the back of his recent ‘Environments Ten’ release on @XVI-Records, South London based producer and Brownswood Future Bubblers alumni Munro returns to his own imprint @ArkenRecords, bringing a few friends along for the ride.
 
Following on from his debut @ArkenRecords 12”, (a limited- to 100 run which gained him support from the likes of Bradley Zero, Jimpster & more) Munro enlists the help of long time friends @UmRiver & Bard, and fellow Future Bubblers participant Revenu; delivering four upfront, forward-thinking and uncompromising tracks. From the deep, acid driven, broken beats of Bards “Tatala” to the cavernous, unrelenting energy of Munro’s “Fall” - each cut seems to feed from the energy of the other, twisting and turning into constantly unexpected directions.
 
A dark modular synthesis induced atmosphere hangs heavy throughout the record creating an almost dystopian soundscape at times. It’s overpowering grooves transmit through empty space, perfect for soundtracking moments of nocturnal transcendence.

The plane cruised through the high skies. Looking out through a circular window she peered down at life below, the clouds hovered gently in the breeze and beneath the green shapes indicated land. She would soon arrive at her destination, some ten hours from where she had left that morning. However, the armchair within which she sat offered little support and it had been a long, bumpy ride. Her fear of flying was delicate and slight but now more than ever she prayed that they would not fall. 

Munro is a rising talent, a string of interesting EP's and features has led to him becoming a prominent figure on our radar. He features on a new split EP from London based record label Arken.

Making a splash with RS019 is a newcomer called Mallard. Discovered by Bradley after being front and centre for almost every RS dance since 2016, the South London based producer and multi-instrumentalist makes a serious first impression with his debut EP ‘ VERTE’.
Currently studying Jazz Double-Bass at Trinity School of Music, Mallard’s productions demonstrate a keen ear for groove with a level of musicality rarely heard in electronic productions. At just 20 years old, he has already developed a unique sound palette and prodigious production style set to make him a name we will only hear more of in the years to come.
This EP, at once varied in tone and tempo is held together by a strong sonic identity and an overarching artistic vision: from the morphing polyrhythmic percussion of ‘Surface’ to the shifting, heady pattern of ‘Aquitaine’ via the psychedelic breaks of ‘Untitled’ we are taken on quite the trip.
Equally at ease on the dance-floor as it would be for an introverted headphone session, Mallard’s first offering to the world via Rhythm Section is one to remember. A timeless classic from the Rhythm Section team!

Notts-based producer Medikul aka Ben Goddard lays the foundations of his new label Homemade Music with the inaugural release: HOMME001. A perfect statement of intent, “HOMME001” is released on 20th April as a super-limited, numbered 12” vinyl and digital EP, assembling four heavily textured and absolutely essential Medikul cuts that weave disparate threads from electronica, hip-hop, footwork and halftime drum & bass. Characterised by warm, weighty sub bass, expertly swung drums and an oddly comforting unevenness and scratchy quality, EP opener ’Nevermind’ (a collaboration with fellow Future Bubblers alumnus R.Lyle) and ’Notes’ lean on hip-hop cadences and are reminiscent of now classic early Brainfeeder output. Meanwhile on the flip, ‘Coarse’ and ‘Objects’ layer up foley recordings, found sounds and vinyl/tape crackles, highlighting Medikul’s love of drum & bass and most notably his commitment to treading his own creative path in music.
