Forever Moments - A Trip Hop Mix

Solid Steel (29th July) DK returns to Solid Steel for a full 2 hr + session with a round up of releases from the first half of 2016, including the current crop from the Ninja Tune family of labels and as always a dip into the vaults. The haunting sounds of Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares open the show followed by Bwana with the first of 3 tracks from the excellent Aus 100 comp, Four Tet with his insanely long titled track, Kaytranada, Seven Davis Jr and classic Carl Craig in the form of the Paperclip People. Technicolour is represented by NY AK, Florian Kupfer and Hieroglyphic Being, with a track from his forthcoming album 'The Disco's Of Imhotep'. Roots Manuva heads up the Big Dada selection with remixes by Kode9 and Champion from the 'Bleeds' Deluxe version, Jameszoo flies the flag for Brainfeeder, whilst more Ninja Tune releases come via Machine Drum, Space Dimension Controller, The Bug, Sarathy Korwar and The Invisible remixed by Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. Meanwhile tracks from Pearson Sound, Trim , Cid Rim on remix duties, Danny Brown, Lone, Rival Consoles and Steven Julien keep the tempo high in Hour 1, with a more sedate second hour courtesy of BADBADNOTGOOD, Medlar remixing Kon, Radiohead, James Heather, Mark Pritchard and Ben Lukas Boysen on Erased Tapes, plus timeless gems by Cassiano, Empress, Vance & Suzanne and the sublime Arthur Verocai.

His highlights of 2015 mix last year was the runner up in the Mix of the Year competition and again it's over 60 tracks taking in music from Machinedrum, Alix Perez, Fracture, Deft, Addison Groove, Loefah, Kuedo, NxWorries, Mark Pritchard and Anderson .Paak. He told us;
'This is the 2016 edition of my annual roundup series where I mix together some of my favourite club and headphone music released in the past 12 months. Some tracks are played in isolation, others become rhythmic layers and one shots. A big thanks to Solid Steel for hosting the mix again!'

Solid Steel Radio Show 9/12/2016 Hour 2 - Jon 1st

Elite Force aka Simon Shackleton has had an extensive career spanning over 20 years. Starting off as a musician and being a band member with Thom Yorke before moving onto his own outfit called Lunatic Calm which had quite a successful career and a few number one tunes including "Rollercoaster". Simon has also worked with a bunch of top acts, remixed, wrote movie soundtracks, toured and was one to watch in the Nuskool Breaks scene. He then developed the Tech Funk genre in the late 2000's included with such artists as Meat Katie and Dylan Rhymes to name a few. Nowadays Simon plays marathon 6 hour LIVE sets in his "One Series" and has moved into the world of professional photography.

The winner of the guest mix of the year 2009 is Mr Armtone from Russia. It's a mix across the board, as we like it, starting on an electro tip with Visage, A-Skillz and Krafty Kuts, all things dub with Augustus Pablo and Digital Mystikz, plus Drum and Bass from 4 Hero, High Contrast and Cyantific wrapping around Nickleback.
