Involve Records boss Regal presents “RWYS Remixes Pt.02”, containing four edits of his debut album from JKS, Ellen Allien, Clouds & Lady Starlight.
Regal will drop the second remix EP from three packages lined up on his Involve imprint, “RWYS Remixes Pt.02”. He invites some of techno’s finest producers to rework his debut album, including JKS, Ellen Allien,
Clouds & Lady Starlight. Parisian Producer JKS takes on Regal & Z.I.P.P.O’s track “Run” for the opener. Modifying the pads, he emits an elongated, ravey sound that’s accompanied by a vast emphasis on the original samples. He uses the vocals to redirect the track after each command, veering through drum patterns, menacing 303’s and clattering rhythms. Following is almighty German force Ellen Allien, with her equally ferocious rendition of
“Dungeon Master”. She shifts the original arrangements by injecting wavering synths and bubbling chords. A rounded kick drum gallops throughout, marrying the psychedelic realm created by Allien with the track’s
original demonic flare. Revered Scottish duo Clouds are next with their concoction of “Requiem from a friend”. Originally a melancholic and dubious cut from Regal and pianist Fabrizio rat, Clouds transform the wistful keys and
understated synths into deep, howling sonics with sharp, stabbing spasms. They accentuate the kaleidoscope elements and maintain the disordered kick-drum, adding weight, a trippy vocal and spacey pads. NYC producer Lady Starlight closes with “Burning Old Idols”. Maintaining a number of elements from Regal’s composition, she manages to amplify the powerfulness of the track. A deeper kick and the ascended pitch of the 303’s churns out a robust and tenacious sound, perfectly maintaining energy until the close.

Sounds From NoWhere is pleased to premiere a new Marteka Fair' track remixed by JAK on 'Vast Recordings'.

As rich sonically as it is in social commentary, Marteka Fair’s latest techno EP is a perfect fit for the budding discography of VAST.

Marteka Fair is from North Carolina, and the American DJ and producer is a key part of the local scene co-creating Liminal Space, a live concert series with visual artist Fluxxss that merges sound and image into a shared, sensory environment. 
She has not only appeared on club and festival line-ups alongside Rrose, Rødhåd, DVS1, and Bloody Mary, but also lists releases on Berlin’s W133, Infra, and Maison Fauna, while being behind the A&R for VAST’s releases.

The Life After Internet EP consists of four tracks along with remixes by Bekkler and JAK. 
It draws inspiration from a time when the information revolution lay at our fingertips, promising what seemed at the time like a utopian frontier of human connection.


Rounding out the original singles appearing on the tracklist of the EP is “Frisson.” 
While markedly more melodic than the music preceding it, its arrangement meanders in a way that might sound random to the untrained ear. 
JAK expanded upon this complex emotional palette in his remix, spinning it into the lore of an exhilarating story.

UK techno don Jay Clarke joins the Soma ranks with The Kicker. Jay has started making his mark on the global techno scene with some serious releases via the awesome Klockworks label, and of course his own BLACKAXON imprint. Jay’s sound is characterised by elements of straight-up intense techno, blended with deeper Detroit-esque elements, culminating in a unique and well-produced style.

Straight Through opens up Jay’s Soma account and focuses firmly on the dance floor. Looped out, driving percussive elements push the track as hypnotic synths keep the rhythm flowing. Overlook has a tribalistic feel to it as wooden percussion work into a perfectly orchestrated groove allowing chopping hi hats and rides to deliver intensity as swelling atmosphere keep things ominous. Taking things down a deeper path, The Spark bounds with a well-crafted groove as spatial synth work brings more melodic and emotive aspects to the forefront. Title track The Kicker offers up the most diverse sounding cut on the EP with broken beat rhythms and discordant, almost jazzy synths breathing a distinct life throughout the track.
