The fourth release in the whypeopledance catalog comes from Montréal’s Laurence Matte, who made a mix for WPD’s LAYER series not so long ago.
Last winter, Laurence found the time to bring to life her introverted slow-burners under the spiritual guidance of legendary racing horse, Monomoy Girl. Another angel overlooking the project is Laurence's closest confidant for as long as she can remember, her grandma Louise, a character that comes alive in the EP's title.
What started as some of her first-ever studio sessions quickly took on lives of their own and later materialized into full-fledged chuggers in a friend’s studio, buried deep somewhere in the Montreal snow in the dead of the darkest season.
MR TC and Curses read the book in their own way and take care of the remixes to round out the release. Curses transport us to New York’s Central Park sometime in the ’80s, where we’ll spend a crazy afternoon running around, and tripping balls. In the second iteration, MR TC takes the timid Louise on a healing path, possibly with the help of some acid.

Fighting against the pop-monopoly of releasing music on a Friday, Ombra International has decided to create a Wednesday mid -week celebration for each single’s entrance into the world.

PREMIERE: Mufti - Replicate [Ombra International/D’oro UNLMTD]

Dina Summer is a collaborative project of producer Kalipo and DJ-producer couple Local Suicide. Local suicide is Greek native Dina P., one of the first female DJs in Thessaloniki before moving to Berlin, where she met her husband and the other half of Local Suicide. The powerhouse couple made a name for themselves releasing music on labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Lumière Noire and Ombra and have played a crucial part in the rise of the dark disco scene.

Meanwhile, Kalipo recently released his critically acclaimed fourth long player on KI Records and is part of the electro-punk band Frittenbude. Here he brings techno undertones to this unique project. Since 2019 the trio have been working together on a special blend of late 90’s electro with elements of 80’s disco and new wave. Their first EP on Iptamenos Discos received widespread praise and received massive support from German radio alongside plays from The Hacker, Digitalism, and Arnaud Rebotini.

This distinctive new album’s sound comes from two synthesisers and one microphone. Pounding disco beats under rattling bass sequences. It's a sound with roots in Italo disco classics, new wave and punk combined with electroclash of the noughties but now ready for summer 2022 from the beach to the club.

Edgy beats meet striking melodies as perfectly poppy hooks are carried by Dina's unique voice on cuts like 'Mars', and fast, urgent grooves like 'Uranos' offer up fine synth craft. 'Revenge' blends cold revenge fantasies with an 80's inspired electro-pop sound reminiscent of feel-good movies of the era without falling into cliché. 'Zig Zag' races on rugged but colourful disco drums, and 'Mirage' has an intoxicating synth lead with flashes of cosmic brilliance.

'Wunderbar' is a heavy, off-balance stomper with German vocals and warped synths, and the majestic 'Amore' twitches your synapse with its pixelated synths and fast bass. 'Crocodile' is a giant disco pumper with edgy synth and vocal energy. The final and title track conjures up lazy summer vibes on a synthesiser amongst the palm leaves, with Dina's beguiling vocals adding extra escapist magic.

With this brilliant new album, Dina Summer breaks with conventions and catapults us directly into a new decade of dark disco. The album will be available from 15th July with lead single ‘Rimini’ out now. Check out the single release and accompanying music video via the below links:

Since its inception in 2014, Lossless has churned out distinctive and forward-thinking releases from a selected group of rising producers such as Lover over Entropy, Trikk, label heads Thomas Herb and Mathias Schober as SBTH and many more. For their latest offering the label is introducing a new talent, an electronic music duo formed of Jaś Miszewski & Alexander Inggs by the name of ATELIER. Backed up by remixes from the label heads themselves and highly in-demand Perel, the duo’s debut EP ‘Something To Fill An Hour’ is a promising prelude to a full-length player which will be released early next year.

Dipped into midly paced breaks and shrouded in mystery, Perel’s take on the original nods to the ‘80s synthwave nostalgia with its laser driven synth progression giving the track a heightened sense of character while the grumbling bassline plunges the listener deeper into a dead-eyed inertia. Jas' enchanting vocal waves serve as a wonderful counterpoint to the darkly evocative atmosphere, imbuing this piece of music with warm and kompaktesque sweetness. Dramatic, engaging and well suited for the 4 A.M dance floor.

Arabian Panther story behind the edit: "The only reason I began to make music is Video Games. For me the pioneer of electronic music are not from USA or Germany but Japan, as the creators of most of the synth we use (or idolize) nowadays. Metal Gear Solid is seen for most people as a simple action/infiltration game. It’s a big mistake to reduce Hideo Kojima’s master piece to a simple Holywood movie Metal gear is a pamphlet against war, against nuclear weapon and an ode to nature and Peace. Otacon and Solid Snake are the heroes our world needs today. For this remix, I’ve started from a 20 seconds loop of « Metal Gear Solid II : Sons of liberty’s » Main Menu. Everything around is a creation of my own except some Codec discussion extract from Metal Gear Solid I Codec Briefing, and famous Codec ring, Alarm and Snake’s screaming. Sleep brought with it much needed respite, an escape from his thoughts and emotions. Of late, his dreams had become much more vivid, rife with strange exchanges and far-fetched situations that left a stamp on his waking hours. Amongst the warped and familiar faces he felt both bliss and terror, yet at times he still wished he could stay in this imagined reality.

Danish producer Kasper Bjørke takes a personal approach when it comes to remixes, focusing on enlisting artists who will transform his music into something original and bring their own distinct flavour. Arnaud Rebotini is a singer, songwriter, producer and remixer, he has become one of the most emblematic figures in electronic music today, adept at straddling genres, both avant-garde and timeless, and bringing them together. 
For example, his Zend Avesta project (Organique, Universal 2000) married electronic music with a chamber orchestra. 
With his analogue synthesisers, he became a central figure on the scene of new international techno, marking renewed enthusiasm for the use of electronic instruments rather than just computers. His live shows have always been unanimously celebrated (Music Components, Citizen 2008, Someone Give Me Religion, K7 - 2010) and his remixes for pour Depeche Mode, David Guetta, Rammstein, The Rapture, Bloc Party, Acid Washed and Tristesse Contemporaine are as indicative of his sets at the biggest clubs and festivals (playing live or mixing) as his collaboration with the highbrow Groupe de Recherches Musicales, especially with Christian Zanési for their Frontières project.
