This album is a compilation of my early years. I started playing guitar at 12, learning folk and fingerpicking from a book I got from my neighbor boy. Highly influenced by American folk tradition like Bob Dylan, Donovan, Neil Young, Simon & Garfunkel or Janis Ian, I started playing the harmonica as well. Singing was the toughest of instruments to master. In my teens and twenties I mainly wrote folk songs like these and played in pubs and small festivals.

Arne Heylen is a Belgian singer-songwriter located in Louvain. In his teens, he started writing acoustic folk songs, in his twenties he focused on piano ballads as 'Heylant'. As a young father, he started writing Dutch songs for children, families and schools, with his band TOENDRA (formerly named 'De Arkonauten').
