LB aka LABAT from Lyon (France) is an emerging artist who has released exciting House and Electro EPs on labels such as D.KO Records, Wolf Music and Mall Grab’s imprint Steel City Dance Discs. Besides of his DJ sets, the Lyon-based artist plays live sets based on old school gear which he so far performed for Boiler Room, DJ Mag and in the legendary club fabric in London.For this edition of MIXED BY, we had a little chat about how he became a live act, his influences and his newly founded label, Poumpet Records, which will release music by himself and artists such as partypoi69 very soon.

Before nightlife in Asia came to a halt from the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Sivanesh was a regular fixture at his city’s hippest spots, through his residency at CÉ LA VI Singapore at the iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel as well as regular bookings at The Council, Tanjong Beach Club, and Kilo Lounge. Regional attention started coming through after a well-received warm-up set for Cercle’s debut show in Asia with The Martinez Brothers in November 2019, leading to bookings at the Wonderfruit Festival in Thailand, and the W Hotel and Iron Fairies in Malaysia.

Since then, the mission has not stopped and music has remained a key focus for him. To stay connected with music during the pandemic, he started getting commissioned to curate guest mixes for publications, record labels and event promoters from around the world such as Mixmag Asia, SaturdaySelects in Kuala Lumpur, Concept from Romania, and the Shi Fu Miz festival in Hong Kong. Since 2021, he has held two radio residencies, beginning with Bicycle Corporation in Vietnam and now at AAJA Music in London.

In 2001, Sivanesh and his partner Lilian Hautemulle launched Sivilian Affairs, a project that’s focuses on intimate parties with an emphasis on collaboration, inclusivity and having fun.

Citing seminal American producers ‘Mood II Swing’ as an early musical influence, Sivanesh’s sound is held together with equal amounts of rhythm and soul and it goes beyond current trends in genres. Anchored in the belief that only quality matters and genres do not, his approach to the craft has allowed him to share the decks with esteemed DJs such as Chaos In The CBD (In Dust We Trust), d’Julz (Bass Culture Records), Jasper James (Optimo Trax), Okain (Talman Records), Rampa (Keinemusik), and many more.

AND just like that, we are at Transmission number 6 featuring none other than @Hamslice. This is a very special episode as Hamslice has always been a communicator and is very close to the Procyon Star System.

Hamslice is a founder of Toast one of the OG renegade party’s, he has been collecting music and DJing for a number of years while holding a residency with Vandelay Radio. His sound is a slice of all things dance music, never focusing on a specific genre, he highlights highs, lows, bass and vocals in all his sets. He likes rock climbing and Italian food.

Hamslice brings us a Transmission that is typical to his style, switching things up from previous Procyon mixes and bringing in some groovy vocal house to get ((bootys)) >>Shaking<<

Welcome to Timecheck ⏰, a mix series which will dive into old, sometimes overlooked music scenes. First up is everybody's favourite genre, Tech House from the early 2000's. 
But this is not just any Tech, these trax infused House, with hypnotic tribal drums, groovy disco basses, dark, atmospheric sound effects and haunting vocals. The jams could go on forever, creating the perfect vibe for the afterhours, when the first sunrays hit the dance floor. Originates from the US from legends like Halo Varga, Hipp-E, Onionz and DJ Jes, then it quickly spread around the world like a wildfire. 
While it didn't last long, and it got a bad reputation, mainly because the trax were quite simple, and very repetitive, (and yes I meme a lot with tech house🤷‍♂️) I think playing these joints at the right time, can really pull the crowd into another dimension. I recorded this mix last year, and it features some absolute classics like Halo Varga's Future, and a few hidden gems from my personal vinyl collection. 
I hope, when we can all dance safely again, I can play on or two of these jams so we can all experience the West Coast Sunrise movement. 🌄
