PCM. This time out, the trio of Francesco Perra (P),
Matteo Cantaluppi (C), Matteo Milea (M) veer away
from the inter-cellular themes of their previous collections
to shed aural light on what humans spend most of
their life doing: sleeping. Each track on Dreamland
focuses on a phase of sleep from that ever-frustrating
half-awake feeling to tranquil R.E.M. and from disaffecting
nightmares to blissful dreaming. As a result, each of
the album's works float by, some with a cloudiness that
mirrors confused sleepy feelings and others that display
the vividness of the most memorable of dreams.

PCM - R.E.M. Phase

An ambient dreamscape filled with hazy found sound, retro dreamy synths, and warm analog noise. 'In This Moment' continues my trend of fusing ambient, cinematic music with my Chillwave and Synthwave sounds, to heighten the emotional impact of my music. This was created pretty easily by improvising in the moment, by running through a slight arpeggio through my new Hologram Microcosm pedal, and then adding and subtracting parts based on the emotional trajectory of the track.

“Earth” introduces the EP with various hazy sounds, paving the way for a psychedelic track that shows CQSG’s ear for melody, as well as his ability to work with clashing textures to forge consistent atmospheres. “Air” melts field recordings, fragile synthetic tones & voices melting as part of a brighter piece that gradually gets deeper and more introspective. “Water” complements this vibe, with slender sounds making their way through aquatic noises, bringing forth the more dreamlike aspects of CQSG’s works. Finally, “Fire” seems to aim at what is to come next from CQSG, providing darker tones, as well as more notable dub techno orientations to the mix.
