Mainstay Brooklyn producer and DJ Toribio comes swingin' out the gate with "Sell Ya Crews", the first release on his newly imprinted BDA label.  Starting with a straight forward Salsa piano riff, the track progresses into deeper and deeper levels with filtered stabs, swirling effects, pitched down synths, and intricate drum work centered around a four to the floor break. Eventually bringing it all back together, "Sell Ya Crews" is a natural dancefloor collision between Motor City aesthetics and Uptown NY influences.

Not many things get ye olde Figaro off the couch, dusting the cobwebs off the keyboard to tap up another premiere for you. Though this little number had just enough pazzaz to kick us back into gear for a rare slice of Soundcloud curation. 

To celebrate 2 years of, Bongosynth, the Sao Paula based label have today released a compilation of edits and originals from a string of producers who have lent a hand in building the label. The comp draws on collaborators from across Brazil and abroad, with notable entries from Milos Kaiser, Les Yeux Orange and an artist releasing on the forthcoming Opa comp, Vuta.

An edit of Bubuska by É Pela Boca by Gop Tun head Gui Scott, is a timely reintroduction of the track, extending the original and enhancing its ability to capture a dance floor. A clever use of instrumentation and several devious feints in the studio give the track an extended run time which allows the track just enough time to wriggle its magic a little deeper into your ears. Well placed for the forthcoming Summer, Gui’s a friend to all the sun drenched selectors giving us a somewhat baelaric, South American beauty as well suited to the lounge room as the dancefloor.

Aroop Roy is a producer, musician and label head, who joins the dots between electronic music and borderless organic sounds. From house, garage and techno to jazz, disco and tropical rhythms, he has enjoyed universal acclaim as a producer and DJ.

Aroop's eclectic productions have become a mainstay for DJs  across scenes and generations, with Gilles Peterson calling him 'a brilliant producer, who never fails'. In recent years, he has been high in demand as a remixer, working for both underground and major labels. 

Like his productions, his sets are full of personality and style and have earned him a reputation as a uniquely gifted DJ. In 2022, his warmup for Mr Scruff at We Out Here Festival impressed the legendary UK selector so much, that he invited him to stay on the decks to close the festival back-to-back, describing Aroop as a 'ridiculously skilled selector, musically able to move in any direction with ease'.

In 2023, Aroop is enjoying huge momentum, causing wild scenes with his sets at Fabric, Printworks, Defected Croatia, Hi Ibiza and Gilles Peterson's Worldwide and We Out Here festivals. 


An eclectic digger and tastemaker, he has recorded guest mixes for the likes of Gilles Peterson, Freerange Records,  CO-OP,  Jazz FM and BBC 6 Music's Craig Charles Funk & Soul show.


Aroop's label Vive La Musique has focussed on quality over quantity, with reissues and reworks of rare eclectic sounds from around the world from Caribbean zouk and Congolese Rumba to French jazz-fusion and South soul. All releases have been celebrated by major tastemakers across the scene with the latest offering "In the Fast Lane" receiving rave reviews for uncovering the historical connections between french virtuoso Jean-Luc Ponty and the Detroit techno movement.
