A R Records is set to release their fourth installment with a glittering EP from French outfit SYK. Real life brothers Maxime and Bastien have set out to produce drum and bass in its purest form and have captured something special with their forthcoming Sleeper EP. 

Four tracks with entrancing basslines and smart breaks are featured, and with label boss Exposure at the helm, you’re sure to be impressed with the selections.

“Beaivi” beams with the same brightness after the sun deity it is named, welcoming listeners into the clouds with atmospheric pads and swirling winds. Soon the support gives way, spilling you into cinematic snippets of dialogue creating a moody, cinematic experience.

“Fatality” lures you in with epic piano chords atop a clear set of natural, smooth drums. Its easy-going progression builds the mood and brings this balmy roller to center stage.

"Sleeper" grabs your attention with dark stabs, eerie energies and ghostly tones. SYK channels minimal tech d&b styled vibes with searing edits and seductive menacing low end.

The sublime end see's a more poignant approach with SYK’s trademark dreamy pads and an uplifting vibe reminiscent of true liquid funk. “Stay” boasts chunky breaks with a full spectrum of frequencies and delicate interjections of wisely placed synths. SYK shines as a welcomed creative injection into the more musical styles of drum & bass.
