Founder and manager of A R Records, Bristol based Exposure is a producer and DJ with formidable talent and a thirst for all things Drum and Bass.
‘The label is an opportunity to spread the message of Drum and Bass globally, as well as being a collaborative enterprise of like minded individuals with similar goals and ambitions.’
Exposure’s journey has already taken him far. He’s played at renowned club nights like Nottingham’s famous Detonate as well as a whole host of other events and festivals. In Brisbane, under his ‘Rescued’ club brand, Exposure was host to some of the scene’s biggest DJs and MCs including Andy C & MC GQ, Friction & SP:MC, Marky, Fierce and State of Mind, to name but a few.
Exposure DJ sets are full of energy and span the full spectrum of Drum and Bass. With fast lightning and varied mixing, he drops fresh unheard dubplates to classics that you haven’t heard for years.
Exposure takes his name from his style of seamlessly blending between the hard and the dark, through to the soft and light, taking you on a journey through everything in between.
Having immersed himself in the world of music production and dedicating endless hours in the studio, Exposure’s tunes have gone from strength to strength and a unique sound is now developing. The influence of Drum and Bass dons like Break, Calyx and Calibre is audible, with heavy rolling beats and big basslines, while all the time maintaining a real musical vibe and flow from start to finish.

The latest signing to Bristol based A R Records, Specialist Sound first discovered the underground world of dance music in the early nineties. Having his roots deeply entrenched in the world of Hip Hop and Blues, the Northampton producer spent his hard-earned pocket money on tape packs, something which would later affirm his love for drum & bass. After becoming introduced into the ranks of happy hardcore through both producing and DJing, he began releasing under his alias SHM (Simple Harmonic Motion), with his collaborations alongside the likes of Darren Styles and Mark Breeze helping his career gain momentum. 
 
After becoming enamoured by the sounds of Ram, Virus, Bad Company UK, John B, Metalheadz, Good Looking Records and Emotif, Specialist Sound soon found the calling which he’s known for today. And his forthcoming release on A R Records provides the perfect foundations for him to continue building on a career which has already seen him release through John B’s Beta Recordings. After coming under the radar of label boss Exposure, who signed his ‘Hypnotise EP’ which scheduled Specialist Sound’s next release, he’s finally found a sanctum within A R Record’s catalogue.
 
Specialist Sound’s music can be described as a mixture of 90’s rave influences and futuristic, darkly moving vibes which he easily resonates throughout clubs. ‘Crazy’ features dancefloor twists and rolling horn relays, beginning the EP with a slamming opener. ‘Hypnotise’ features a more ethereal backdrop; a woman’s vocals stream through the mix and as it cascades Specialist Sound takes you along for the ride. It also alludes to the lighter side of his production, demonstrating that he has an expanse of wealth when it comes to different styles. Up next you’re taken through ‘Lightspeed’, a track which wizzes across its diligent mix with snapping drums and jittering LFOs. Mark Breeze then joins Specialist Sound for ‘Stringfellow Hawk’, with subterranean bass levels which shake its very core, that develops into an innovative structure which becomes apparent against its first few chords. It shows why Specialist Sound was picked up by Exposure; the musical levels reflect those demonstrated in A R Records’ roster.
