We are honored here at Musicis4Lovers.com to be able to host the new remix from Nu and Acid Pauli of Daniel Bortz's beautiful composition, "The Misery feat. Nils Corssen". 

Daniel Bortz isn't a big fan of reckless experiments. A fact that makes this new release even more remarkable: he's breaking his own rule of not having his own tracks remixed.

Needless to say, he didn't just pick anyone to get this job done. His choice fell on some highly esteemed friends and colleagues, resulting in a quite remarkable package.

Acid Pauli and Nu give us their interpretation of “The Misery”, using Nils Corssen´s voice as a hook lead element, never losing the melancholy vibe of the original and still putting it into a rather dancefloor-compatible context.

On friday 13th May I was invited to play an all night long session at Concrete in Paris, it was my longest set to date and was an amazing experience and a huge honour. I'm known for being able to bang it out for a few hours during peak time but this really gave me an opportunity to find my groove and  explore the journey element of djing. So here I would like to share the full night with you, till next time.....!

„Umwelt’s 12inch "... City" from 1999 was one of the most impressive 12inches I had at that time and I played the shit out of it. It was dark and very emotional, it was abstract but also driving at the same time. This was 1999 though, before Discogs and before Facebook and all the other platforms people have now to do research on artists they like and follow their work. At that time it was the record shop - and that was it. Nobody knew this guy though, and I didn't get my hands on any of the following releases, so in my world there was no follow-up to this record ever and I thought it would remain a one-off gem in my record box.
Until by some coincident I recently discovered he was still around and had actually released numerous releases in the meantime. I was very excited and contacted him straight away and ended up booking him for Krake Festival in the same year. Undoubtedly his set was one of the best of the whole festival! He took the roof off the place with his mix of raw electro, industrial and rave and everybody was talking about it afterwards, saying it was the highlight of the festival! Talking to him I learnt, that most of the tracks he played were his own, mostly unreleased. He produces without computers, all his tracks are single takes, there is no editing, no mixing afterwards, he only has a stereo track recording which is what it is. He owns a cutting machine which he uses to cut dubplates from his tracks, which he then plays out during his sets. This whole information about this very unique artistic approach just killed it for me, and since working with him was so nice as well, I asked him for a demo for Killekill and its labels and was hoping for tracks I could make a great 12" of. I got 14 tracks and after weeks of trying to pick the best, I finally realized I held one of the best electro albums ever in my hand - banging beats and the balls to go big and epic, subtle melodies, drama, funk – this album has got it all, and what's most important, the music on it is the exact opposite of so much other music nowadays: It is emotional, it tells a story, it is easily recognizable and it is not interchangeable. Handmade's DJing is perfectly tuned to the Globus wavelength. An integral part of the Tresor resident team since 2009, he developed his own blend of timeless dance styles on the rocky Berlin terrain.

However, this was not developed entirely in the German capital, on the Spree river, but also by another large body of water: Lake Michigan. Spending time in the birthplace of house music was enough to get lost in one of the richest dance music narratives of the planet, making his way through entire record collections. The combination of abundant sexiness and spiritual depth, etched into the vinyl of Trax, Dance Mania and Cajual, seemed to parallel a core basic human instinct about the experience of fun. In these records from the American midwest he found pure hedonism cast into black plastic. 

In terms of club experience however, the Berlin night scene remained second to none and with ravenous hunger he returned to his homeland. Ever since Handmade has channeled this drive into what has become his explosive trademark DJ style: deep and dubby-grounded à la Detroit, with the jacking stabs of Chicago influences and occasional deviations into tougher or more soulful soundscapes. This stylistic set-up allows him to adjust perfectly according to each night’s context, if necessary breaking it wide open: two indispensable qualities of a resident DJ.

"Once a year in honor of the old Ostgut tradition, Berghain closes its doors to the straight crowd and unleashes a no-holds barred gay marathon where anything goes. Due to the circumstances of it being a different crowd and different vibe, I figured I'd upload the set which is a bit harder and funkier than I typically play." -DZ
