The song expresses the thoughts and feelings of many Americans who have had to live through a most difficult and, for some, even devastating time in their lives due to the Covid 19 pandemic. It takes the form of a “Letter to Washington 2020.”

"Wonderous are your thoughts toward me, Lord" David exclaims in one of his Psalms. As sons and daughters of the Most High God it is good to remind ourselves how much God is FOR US and not against us! After all it was for the joy set before Him that our Lord "endured the cross and despised the shame." Heb 12:2  I believe Jesus had His multitudes of the Redeemed very much in mind as being a part of that joy set before him. His love for the Lost is beyond measure!

Testimony

The song will remind all Christians that at times it may require a backward glance at those times involving demonstrations of the Lord's faithfulness in order to fortify the doubting heart for what lies ahead! He was there and will ALWAYS be there no matter what circumstances we face in our lives.

The song is a response to an excellent sermon from D. Michael Cocholis, pastor of Lindley Church in L.A. I highly recommend him as an excellent communicator of Biblical Truth, preached in a manner both accessible and delightfully engaging. The ending lyrics of my song is taken from a Reggae tune "By the Rivers of Babylon" by The Melodians (1970) quoting Psalm 19:14.

In a modern world where there is so much coming and going, we find that, over the years, people can choose to move around a lot. These transient lifestyle choices take their toll on their efforts to sustain lasting friendships. The sad fact is that friends can often lose touch with one another when they find themselves physically separated by great distances.

As the lyrics in this little tune indicate, my "encounter" with a Dandelion caused me to reflect on the "Pride of Life" problem for many of us today. How easy to observe the obvious  futility of the little weed's boasting (the brevity of its "glory flower") Yet, we fail to bring to mind how disappointingly God must view Mankind's  oft "boasting in all he has and all he does."  Ouch!

Many of us Christians might at some point in our walk have a tendancy to wander away from God. The good news is that when it happens, and after we finally  "come to our senses" the Father is waiting with open arms to welcome us back! I wrote this song for a friend of mine living in the UK who is under a lot of pressure in life, but who finds taking a daily walks down a country lane in Somerset (where he resides) very helpful indeed.

Walking Down A Country Road (for Francis)

I tried to write something that would be easy on the ears and kind of relaxing. A sort of tune to take a walk with some  place you feel safe and close to God.   A song that affirms Jesus' love and friendship for all who trust in Him and obey His commandments.  And reminds that when life gets really hard He is always there to help, if only we will surrender, trust and let His "Greater Love" for us have his way in the situation.

The song from Scripture reminds that the battle for holy living is fought in the the mind. "Keep your thoughts on things of the Spirit and you will be less inclined to  satisfy the lusts of the flesh," says the Bible. We all need to tape a little sign on the front of our TV with Phil. 4:8 "Whatever is true, whatever is just and PURE, lovely, commendable, excellent, worthy of praise-think on these things!"

"The heavens declare the glory of God" and so does our garden out back at the coming of spring! As we admire all that mother nature does to sustain and enhance our lives here on earth it's important to keep in mind that even she has a Father, God, the Creator of everything and especially that beauty in the natural world all around! He is worthy of our worship!

"May this Day" provides us with a reminder to start our day off right by praising the Lord and thanking him (in advance) for the blessing He plans to provide once again today(Gift of Life). The song also encourages the listener "to be Christ" to the others we come in contact with today! The upbeat simple melody makes the tune easy to carry around with you all day too!

This song is dedicated to the many "overcomers" among our Christian brothers and sisters who, during those moments of discouragement and  temptation to sin, REMEMBER that "Greater is He who is in you than he that is in the world" and "In all things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us!" Rom 8:37

I Look Up

The song is about a right and healthy way of entering into a lifelong relationship with a « Best Friend. «  Having first  established a good and solid friendship is a great place to begin nurturing a loving and much deeper commitment to another person. The song describes the manner in which this might occur. Rather than a « coup de foudre » (falling in love) it is a gradual dawning of heart and mind concerning a specific great friend you’ve shared life with for awhile.  Mr/Ms Right has perhaps finally come along!

More Than Just Good Friends

A song I wrote awhile ago to encourage Christians to remain confident that even in these uncertain times of pandemic and political division the Lord has things under control. "That in all things he's working for the good" of those who love him and agree to simply  trust him and obey. The song as well pays tribute to one of the great reggae, soul singer-songwriters of the past. The late great Johnny Nash! RIP Johnny! (dec. Oct 6 2020) We all loved your song!
