Jaijaiwanti is the name of a Raga belongs to Khamaj thaat. When I was working with my jazz combo people, I gave them the idea of using a raga based melody over 12 bar blues. I personally think this is just a beginning of this kind of fusion music, there is lot of work has to be done.

Arsalan Pareyal is a contemporary composer, a jazz fusion guitarist and a Rubab player from Karachi, Pakistan. Arsalan started his music education at the National Academy of Performing Arts in 2009. Arsalan's keen interest in Pakistani traditional music as well as in Jazz made to him stand out in the local music scene in Karachi. Despite living in a society where music is not considered as a healthy profession, he managed to become one of the original guitar players and music educator emerging from Pakistan. Right after his graduation he was offered to join NAPA as a faculty to teach jazz theory/improvisation and advance rhythm techniques. Arsalan has been selected multiple times in an exchange program between NAPA and Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied music education and human learning, advance jazz theory and composition. Arsalan is also the lead guitarist and composer of PAK-USA collaborative band named &quot;Sangat&quot; which means to come together. Arsalan has designed a very delicate music curriculum for small community schools in Karachi. He is currently working with a lot of nonprofit organizations to promote music education in schools in Pakistan. He is also the founding member of the Karachi Jazz Band.
