Following up his recent EP, Oddkin, on Human Pitch, Mexico City based producer and visual artist Tristan Arp delivers a diverse and imaginative 4 tracker on Eternal Ocean. ‘Alternate Looking Glass’ the first track and namesake of the project opens up with a flurry of tuned percussion and celestial voices, playfully oscillating between the club focused rhythms and a sensibility akin to the works of Philip Glass and Midori Takeda. “Curved Space’ takes a similar approach but this time creating a mysterious and obscure world created through a masterful use of foley recordings and polyrhythmic structures that create a sense of the tempo being pushed and pulled at the same time. The album closes with 'Air Portrait’ and ‘Probability Horizon’, two ambient sound sculptures that speak to Tristan’s affinity for design and visual space with their intricate melodies and textures playing off one another as they glide across the soundfield, exploring a new space in this young artist’s highly developed palette.

Let us introduce Kevin Murf, with his debut EP ‘All Inclusive’. The first glimpse into his world, and what a world it is. Five deep excursions, all contrasting each other, speaking about the endlessly destroying pursuit of happiness of humans. 

From the chopped-up breaks and surging bass bins of opening track ‘Unexpected Jazz Crush’, to the supreme sound design & perc work on ‘Last Minute’, a bonafide club tool.
Followed by ‘Bagombo’, a janky, tribal post-African number which glues it together with samples sweeping through taxing build-ups and blissful breakdowns. 
‘Small Hole of Large Absorption’, a near 5 minute atmospheric build-up of eerie field recordings and spacious samples, giving rest bite to the club weapons it followed, reminding the end of our naive world.
Lastly, ‘Unexpected Jazz Crush (Solastalgia)’, concludes the EP. Based on a neologism of distress caused by environmental change, it’s a stripped back version of the opener that gives a clean end to the journey.

it's been a while since we decided to open and launch this new project, we were just waiting for the right moment, and maybe we waited too long. or maybe not. we were a little stucked by the indecision of when to put it out, how to contextualize, and all the usual "psychological" practices that one faces before starting a new journey. but ever since we received the masters of this wonderful concentrate of different minds, we have been looking forward to smashing it out. and whether it's the real right time or not, it's now finally here! the true meaning behind this capsule is not so definable in words, perhaps because it is an attempt to look back and forth at the same time, without getting lost in a one concrete definition. but when we got to the tracks, first individually, and then together, it came spontaneous to glimpse something new and unconventional as a whole. we are therefore proud to present another of our musical journeys, this time in certainly more experimental and odd territories. the sounds you hear can definitely be taken as the true manifesto of this new chapter. proto? post? everything in between. Featuring 8 different artists from Mexico to Lithuania, Peru, Portugal, Florida, UK and Belgium, ‘Maloca Vol. 1’ outlines the worldly focus of Le Motel’s new label. 

Launching Maloca Records earlier this year, the label’s ethos is to build bridges interlinking disparate yet like-minded musicians dedicated to blending organic electronic and acoustic elements. The global network of makers highlighted on Maloca Vol.1, the label’s first compilation, confabs a terrestrial and borderless percussive sound that has been bubbling in clubs and Le Motel’s orbit. 

Opening the compilation is esteemed Peruvian duo Dengue Dengue Dengue followed by Lithuania's DJ JM who has previously released on the likes of Nervous Horizon and Goon Club Allstars, Miami artist and NAAFI affiliate Nick León and Lisbon’s DJ N.K. On the second half of the compilation, there are contributions from the label founder himself, Mexico’s Omaar, UK’s Coen and mysterious artist Tsongo. 

Maloca Records has put out three vinyl releases to date from Oakland’s Farsight, Beijing’s Howie Lee and Le Motel. The label is quickly building a reputation for releasing brilliant forward-thinking club records whilst capturing specific international sounds.
