This song began as a well developed, funky disco idea Roy came up with on his guitar, and shared with JJ. JJ added a wonderfully complex orchestration of various keys (including the sax solo you hear towards the end.    JJ invited Stephen first, who came up with the funky ass wah guitar that also carries the groove. 

Of course, JJ realized that this is a disco song, so he enlisted Ken to come up with one of his awesome beats to carry it along. 

JJ had a rudimentary bass line that he played himself, but decided to get Josh to do the honors instead. So, Josh came up with a totally new bass line designed to shake your cheeks. 

Once it was in the can, we decided to ask JJ to mix it for us. This is a first time JJ has mixed a song for The Eclectic Collective, and we were all impressed with his work. Stephen mastered it, as he is a master masterer.    

We're all really impressed and delighted with the experience of working with Roy and his music. He is a very talented artist with a lot of great music to check out on his page, too.   We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it, and that it makes you shake your hips while you're doing the dishes, too!

The Eclectic Collective -- composition
 
This song started with JJ during one of his late Saturday night composition sessions, where he came up with the idea on his synth. He laid down some great organ and electric piano for the rest of us to play with. Ken was first up with his lively, raucous drums. He and Josh did their back and forth with the rhythm section until it was solid, though. Then Stephen laid in his dirty, rawkin' rhythm guitar to give it an extra foundation. Finally, Tez put the icing on the cake with his monster soloing throughout. 


  Of course, every great song needs a great producer. In this case, Tez did the honors in a very expert manner. We wanted Stephen (Texmex Shaman) on this, too, of course, but he is just now getting settled into his new abode, and was in flux while we were making this one. He'll be back with The Eclectic Collective next week, though. 
  This is an example of Eclectic Collective 

teamwork. It came together relatively quickly, which means we were all having fun doing it. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Lately I have been listening to Johnny Cash with a greater appreciation than ever before.  When doing this song, I felt close to Mr. Cash and his work.  I hope some of that feeling made its way into this song.  On Monday it will be 13 years since Mr. Cash left this earth.  His music lives on.

I owe so much on this song to the wonderful music and support from Hans and the additional care from Sam Prock.  Thank you dearly my friends.

Bumped the Bpm and tightened mix in Ableton Live 9. I ran Retronyms TableTop and could resist to spin the track on iPad :) Grabbed MPC beats sound from the iPad reincarnation app. The iMPC Pro implements the feel and features signature Duck function of AKAI. Classic for the genre.

Loving Psytrance (and Psybient) genres for dynamics, pressure and overall coolness. I've being trying to learn it for some years now. Posting first time, thinking remix is a good opportunity. Original track by Stan Kolev is Progressive House (stems provided for remix comps at Metapop. I like mix with stems vs. finished song. Though here I used FX and vox stems from original. Drums and bass and synths are mine :). Remixing is good for you - you learn and find your own sound faster!
