ARTCORE Records continues to carve a niche sound, their own trademark genre of Psy-Techno, with a string of chart topping releases whether in VA format, solo EP’s, singles or the creative new DUO release format. Two of the label strong female artists return this April, for a 4 track EP from Giorgia Angiuli and BEC.

Giorgia Angiuli’s has been an evergreen presence on the global live circuit for over a decade. With a style that’s shaped by her history as a professional composer and multi-instrumentalist, Angiuli’s perception of the ARTCORE template brings her back for her third outing and to follow up on her 2024 VA contribution ‘Rising’.

BEC’s remarkable rise within the electronic dance world is the result of tenacity and talent. She was head hunted early in her career and has since featured her music on labels including Nina Kraviz’s Trip, SPFDJ’s Intrepid Skin and BPitch, plus her own label EMBARGO, a label she launched with a debut collaboration with KiNK. The Berlin based DJ returns to ARTCORE for the first time since her single in 2024 was featured on one of the labels VA’s.

The EP opens with Giorgia Angiuli’s ‘We Dream in the Same Language’ which employs warm vocals across frenetic dance stabs and mechanicalized break downs. As unrestrained drums beat ceaselessly, zipping effects and metallic flowing synths flicker to see out the EP with a sound that perfectly blends a mix of hard, European dance styles.

Bouncing bass and starry melodics broaden the EP’s sonic appeal on BEC’s ‘Cherry Dagger’. A gliding melody that punches and swirls in unison with wavey overtones helps to define this rave imbued track that ebbs and flows amidst skittering cymbals and volatile, tremolo effects.

BEC and Giorgia Angiuli unite on ‘Seeker’, combining their faultless studio chops together for the first time. Unsettling and stirring, the pair work in tandem to unleash a dancefloor monster cast from an orchestra of apocalyptic low-end elements - such as a ponderous baritone bass and low-pitched ceremonial drumming. The track’s end-of-days-like narrative is accentuated further by swerving vehicle effects and drones that ominously hover atop the beat.

Giorgia Angiuli’s ‘Warriors of Light’ delivers a celestial mix of trance-like ambiences that are underpinned by a linear techno pattern. Sliced, monastic vocals chant as slews of menacing riffs rain down across a reverberating soundscape of shuddering bass, thunderous claps, and intoxicating grooves.

A rumbling euphony of pace-setting melodies triggers the beginning of BEC’s ‘Loca Mania’ in unapologetic style. Choppy percussion, howling sirens and liquidised synths add a dystopian texture to a composition which barrels through jittery rhythm sections with no remorse aside a pair of sporadically dotted vocal components.

Lola Cerise was always destined for a career in music. Growing up in France, a young Cerise would spend her formative years learning the piano before the lure of hard beats and illegal parties introduced her to a culture that would change her life forever. 

Renowned for her ability to seamlessly merge only the toughest of dance codes during her boundary pushing live sets, Lola Cerise’s music embodies her storied personal history comprehensively. It’s this impassioned energy that courses through her DNA that’s fuelled her music making earning her releases on Gomboc Records, Comme des les films, Khazad Records and Record Union as well as appearances on important channels such as, HÖR Berlin and BCCO. 

After performing on numerous line-ups together, Lola Cerise is now set to debut on Indira Paganotto’s formidable ARTCORE Records imprint with ‘I Don’t Speak German’ EP which will land on 15th May. 

Opening track, ‘Stop Stealing My Socks’ begins somewhat outlandishly with Lola Cerise packing a fantastically diverse palette of effects into an otherwise tense soundscape of charging drum fills and spaced-out pads that provide the foundations to this hallucinatory, shapeshifting melody. On ‘Less Cheese In My Raclette’, the wonderfully cartoonish energy continues as fierce breakdowns meet a mix of ‘downer’ synth lines that frivolously dance and skip whilst a whirring siren bass relentless churns beneath fierce, snappy and gnarling percussion. 

It’s clear that Lola Cerise’s has channelled her playful side into her debut ARTCORE EP as she forges on with the peculiar (but still incredibly fitting) track titles. When ‘Is That What You Wanted Mummy’ begins it brings with it an ‘edge of chaos’ suspense as unrestrained measures of high-octane, psy-infused techno rumble ominously whilst the arrival of a manic vocal sample busts opens the door to a cacophony of far out, low-end elements. As the EP tips into the second act, ‘EROTOMANIA’ emerges to a chorus of war-ready chanting whilst a fierce medley of thick kicks, pulsing bass and droning chord notes interrupt proceedings to form the track’s core before even more of the guttural vocal components that opened the track are reintroduced. A metallic, clunking opens ‘Humans Smell Rain Better Than Sharks’ before the track breaks and unfurls into a speedy but creeping composition defined by its spidery synth arrangements, coarse cymbals and ruggedly chopped vocal components. 

Closing out this ingenious off-centre EP is ‘You Look Ugly When You Drink Whiskey’ which urgently sets off using a combination of eccentric overtones, breathless vocal components and effervescent percussive drive that perilously thunders through a dramatic series of energy shifts to see out the release in a vibrant, off the wall style.

Amazingblaze - Buddha Blessed [TWEP009]

Earlier this year, ARTCORE took another bold step into a new and innovative direction with the first release of its DUO series. So far Avan7, Becker, Interactive Noise, Marhu, Valentinø, Giorgia Angiuli and BEC have all featured as part of this new concept – in which two artists are selected to feature on one EP.

ARTCORE DUO IV see’s CHRS and SUMIA join forces, with 2 tracks each to be released on the 5th June. CHRS, a Sicilian artist who is no stranger to the label, is also a resident and label manager of Phase 2. With shows this year in his home of Catania, Phase 2’s Festival as well as Hi Ibiza, his sound is trace, with groove and experimental touches, all elements he’ll add to an exciting remix planned for a historic artist later this year. 

SUMIA, also known as Turkey’s “Princess Of Hard Dance”, is the founder of charity event ‘Stronger Together’ and the Volx community Records owner. She says her sound is currently evolving, and this release leans more towards a trance/bounce direction, whilst she embarks on a new concept to perform her own tracks totally live during her DJ sets at some of her upcoming shows this summer in Rome, Serbia and Japan.

SUMIA opens the release with ‘Kill Mia’. An alarm like synth provides the foundation of the melody which begins with the classic ‘trill’ transition accompanied by rotating bass notes, shotgun claps and whispering vocals.

CHRS employs the incredible vocals from Revia on ‘Missing Pieces’. The track showcases his trademark sound, with a pacy concoction of supercharged percussive power and thrumming pad effects open before the soulful vocals begin to flow to provide nuance, whilst a potent core of dramatic synth fills rumble coldly beneath.

SUMIA didn’t earn her title of her ‘Hardcore Princess’ by accident. On ‘Fisiltiar’, she expertly fuses fierce bass chops and imposing drums with a reverberating, siren like effect. But, out of almost nowhere, a charming stringed chorus intercepts before the melody takes its final drop and bursts with shockwaves of electric musicality.

CHRS closes the release with ‘Inside The Heart’. A venture into drum n bass / neurofunk territory, offering an adrenaline fuelled ride through a counter-current of amen drum patterns, melancholic stabs and serene, euphonious vocal elements. A beautifully linear soundscape that delivers a whole new and welcome audio experience for the ARTCORE faithful.
