Three years after her debut album "Shape of Fear and Bravery" Suz is now back with her second work, "One is a Crowd".

The first single from the new album of this Italian songwriter, "Distant Skies (Don't Say a Word)", is a track produced by" KutMasta Kurt, the American producer best known for his work with New York rapper Kool Keith (aka Dr. Doom and Dr. Octagon) and collaborator with many other prominent hip hop artists such as The Beastie Boys, Dilated Peoples, Blackaliscious and Dj Spooky as well as, in the beginning of his career, composer for great hardcore punk bands such as The Circle Jerks and Nomeansno.

In this single we are accompanied over a base of typically mysterious and uncomforting tones holding echoes of many memorable hip hop seasons, by the unmistakable warm and caressing voice of Suz, who seemes to have taken much from great British trip hop singers such as Shara Nelson, Martina Topley Bird and Neneh Cherry. Her voice guides us in a solitary walk along dark alleys, at times illuminated only  by the sinister blastings of distant bombs. To use Dj Shadows’ words, it’s “midnight in an (im)perfect world”, a world where there is nothing left to say, and no chance for love. Just two people far from each other, under two distant skies.

This single is enriched by three remixed versions of the song. A version inspired by the new frontiers reached by current British bass music was crafted by Alessiomanna, former bass player of Casino Royale, currently working under the new moniker BlackJob for his solo project. A more dance oriented reinterpretation is the one by Turin producer Ezra (Bratski Krug, Dub Pigeons), co-owner with Epitome of the Label No.Mad Records that will release “One Is A Crowd”.

Last (but not least) is a version, where we can readily recognize the very particular jazz funk tones that belong to Katzuma, formerly Sangue Misto Deda, working with that virtuoso ensemble of musicians - piano, bass, flute and sax - called The Expanding Machine. 

Suz is a unique voice in the italian music scene, a personality that can go beyond national borders. “Distant Skies” projects her music towards other skies, very far from here.
