Spider

Inspired by Appalachian folk harmonies, 80's synth soundtracks, and ghosts, the music of Artemisia is spaciously eerie, like meeting a lover in a haunted house. 

Selene Ross (vocals, ukulele, guitar, autoharp, dulcimer) and Alisa Rose (vocals, harp)first met in the Berkeley Hills in 2018 when they lived together in a witch house. They both had grown up singing in choirs in the Bay Area and were each in music projects in college–Selene in the DIY freak-folk scene in Santa Barbara, and Alisa in the percussion group BEATs at Tufts University. 
Singing together in their living room evolved into performing at house shows, local venues, and eventually they recorded a collection of songs in the Joshua Tree desert in early 2021, made possible by the gentle heart of Anthony Ferraro. In the summer of 2021 Ariel Wang joined them on violin.
