This one started as a jam with a very static groove to begin with, Kick + Pulse Snare, and then the bass stabs to match. I had been spending my sort of newly isolated days new to Berlin, not knowing that many people just yet, and locking myself away in the studio. Watching plenty of John Carpenter movies (my favorite film maker) and digesting a whole load of 70's progressive rock & 80's film score soundtracks.
The whole thing came together pretty quickly, the arpeggio played out that way because I had been practising that scale and was finally able to make the run. 
I can't go into too much detail here without writing an essay in the universal powers but at some point and the same if for all of us who create in whatever ways we do, the artist becomes the instrument and at that perfect moment the universe and the artist are one.
This was the final production to leave the studio in 2012. Just before i turned off the computer for the last time and headed back to London from Berlin to meet my sister for Christmas on the 23rd of December. 
7 days later Jonny White Calls me on my birthday and asks to sign it to No.19.

Eric Volta - Love Your Illusion

This one started of as a jam session from a friend, but quickly all the parts has escalated and grew into it's own. It was yet another magic weekend in the studio as friend & music collaborator Gaika drops in with a few of his dutch friends. Chamireaux barely has the time to get acquainted and runs in & out of the studio after 10 minutes leaving this wonderful ad lib'd performance. Gretz then steps into the vocal booth and in just the same way leaves a great ad lib'd shortly after and makes a swift departure.
Gretz and I would meet again in the following weeks and work on more music together.


Eric Volta - Masters of Puppets

The Balearic mean machine, Cal Gibson is back on Paper with five tracks of leftfield, soulful electronica to warm the darkest of days. 

Boo Boo 4 Sure takes pitched down disco beats and lush chords for a track  aimed at the stars. 

Oh People's vocal sample is laid over a super late night, neon electronic jam for pure deep soul. 

Stay is Balearic folk for deep waters as the vocal refrain gets turned around and dubbed into the cosmos. 

Sooner of Later keeps it psychedelic and late night with tripped out delays, wonky vocals and buried jazzy electronics. 

Finally, Ache All Over cycles a vocal sample over filtered samples and a 4/4 sub kick with all kinds of studio black magic.

This is the splendid deep follow up EP by our favorite Liverpool artist Petals In Sound. After her great label debut last summer where she already showed us her wonderful atmospheric electronic sound, she now continues on a journey through that same spaced- out house territory. “Dial Tone” and “Lush” are both laid back groovers that sooth every dancefloor and are perfect late, or better, early hours tunes to steer dancers gently towards sunrise and out of smoke filled clubs, homewards with warm musical memories of a danced and spaced out night.

“The Sea and Everything in It” is a personal fave here as it combines great percussive rhythms with her unique style, arpeggios and dark synths electronica, deep like a warm spring day. The outdoor raves will be a perfect setting for this one! Last we asked our other new label member Pete Bandit from Berlin to remix “Lush”. With his own debut “Wild Feelings” he already set the tone showcasing his expert percussive and driving house sound. Here again he turned the original into a loopy “New York House” style jam with cool funky drums that fit in perfectly with the other tracks and make this whole EP a tight and delightful package. Enjoy!

Originally recorded in 2001 by Ugly Music label head Felix Dickinson, DJ Shakra and Blane Lyon People’s People now gets its release in Blane’s memory with remixes from Brother Lee Love, Crazy P and legendary Chicago House producer and DJ Ron Trent. Latter comes up with a steady groove as well as funky influences and infectious chords, which not only support the continuous funky vibes but also set the basis for Blane Lyon’s spoken vocals. Trent’s remix is an inevitable piece of groovey art stretching the moment of satisfiable funkiness to a eight and a half minutes and giving listeners the feeling of being captured in the beauty of the loop or rather in an everlasting House music beauty.

Lost Control is proud to present its first ever compilation titled Devotion 2 The Ocean. The name comes from the labels dedication to the deep hydro sounds and also the protection of future marine life; the latter being the reason the compilation came to the surface. A portion of the proceeds from the compilation will be going to the Marine Conservation Institute who specialise in protecting marine life and vast ocean areas for future generations of sea life.

The compilation has a selection of deep works from artists from Detroit to Europe and even below land. USA native ‘The Aquatic People’ starts off with some ultra deepness that floats through the slipstreams then follows another American ‘Vincent Floyds’ synth driven journey which was inspired by one of his young family members drawings. French producer ‘DJ Merci’ gives us the some slow pump with sprinkles of jazz and Detroit veteran ‘Walt J’ drops some Motor City emotions on us. London based ‘Mad World Music’ picks up the pace with his bubblin’ house number. Berlin’s ‘Lazercat’ draws on some old school Detroit flavours that ooze deep soul and Liverpools ‘Reedale Rise’ crunches up ambient hardware goodness with futuristic programming from the depths of the seven seas. French artist ‘Sloppy J’ transports us back into a time when house was warm and crisp à la Heard style. The sounds of seabed life is what Berlin positioned Russian producer ‘Module One’ signals the labels HQ way down deep. Berlin situated ‘Black Eyes’ and Lost Control head of hydro-trip ends with a subterranean deep house track soundtracking the future of the oceanic cities. The compilation was mastered by Deskai in Berlin for that extra hydro warmth.

As per usual, we encourage scuba gear when listening to anything hydro related. Let’s keep it REAL deep!
