Arthaus Musik was founded in 2000 as one of the first labels to release audiovisual productions of classical music programmes on DVD. With a catalogue of about 700 DVD titles and a powerful distribution network worldwide Arthaus Musik has a leading position in many countries. Recently the label has launched two new product lines dedicated to fine arts and drama performances on DVD. Arthaus Musik is based in Halle/Saale, the city where G. F. Handel was born.
In 2008 Arthaus Musik took over the TDK Music label, purchasing about 200 additional titles and started its own production activities and is also active in the fields of content licensing for TV, DVD and internet distribution.
