Usually I wouldn't upload something this late, but being the apparent supervillain I am, I just had to do it.

So Orhcestral Tools released a free ukulele that genuinely sounds good and all that, but I couldn't stop thinking to myself how one of the greatest weapons to bludgeon whiny metal-heads with was finally at my fingertips... AND WHAT TO DO WITH THIS? Why just start saying "HEY HEY, HEEEEEEEEYYYY" to the four chords of pop! Throw in some drums and some string spicattos and BANG! Twee pop sound, baby! It's 30 seconds of pure 2010s epicness...

And remember to be nice, or I will turn one of those metal tunes into a OMG QUIRKEE little tune with this little Hawaiian guitar.

Waiting at the gates of what, exactly? The gates of the Mordor like location, or perhaps to the dwarven city? Maybe it's a metaphorical gate we stand before? Whatever it may be, this is a quick dive into a dark, deep, sinister end based on a very simple musical idea I had. And well, wanted to test some new drums too... Either way, whatever is on the other side of the gate isn't going to be pretty or to be taken lightly.

30MC - Waiting At The Gates

A music piece inspired by one of my favorite composers, John Adams. Known for works such as "Short Ride in a Fast Machine", the opera "Nixon in China", and other kinds of modern minimalistic orchestral music.

This is really short and was more about trying to figure out how I could add my own spin on things. It's gonna be rather weird sounding and kind of nonsensical. Although you can probably expect more of these to come in the future.

30MC - John Adams Style 1

One of my favorite tracks from Super Mario Sunshine is the music for Pinna Park. While my version doesn't quite pack the island flavor like the original, it still fits very much in any theme park setting. With more clinks, tinks, whistles, and chimes that necessary.

This actually has a variety of versions released on my FA account, including one without the tape mix, some different instrument arrangements, and even a more "old electronic" sounding remix.

Also, why did I use Music Man from FNAF and not something Mario related? Because I like messing with people's expectations, that's why.

Originally, I was gonna draw a picture of an imposing Pokemon gym, but then I stumbled upon a picture of my favorite of the gym leaders and decided for the sake of getting it done, just use official artwork and screens of Nessa from Sword/Shield for the thumbnail and still. Although this isn't the music you'd hear when fighting the gym leaders.

However, the water park challenge you did before the fight? Or how about all the other kinds of crazy contraptions and massive machines that make up these gyms? Really, any post 3rd gen Pokemon game could have this kind of arrangement playing for them. There's enough stately brass and explosive percussion for the spectacle, and there's even some hybrid cinematic stuff going on the second half before the loop. Harmonically this was a fairly straight forward piece of music, but in the world of music, simple is sometimes all you need.

Ah yes! Some very upbeat and happy music for a fun house! Who says haunted houses were scary?! Pfft! Everyone knows that the dead know how to throw killer parties and events. And nothing like a worn out harmonium, undead circus band, and some banging on the walls to make some truly happy fun music! And look, even Luigi has shown up in his best and favorite form of all!

Big Boo's Merry-Go-Round

For the past few weeks I've just done video game covers and I really don't feel like gumming up my soundcloud with remixes and covers. So here's something original.

Anyway, using just Orchestral Tool's male choirs from Metropolis Ark 2 and Time Macro, I have made us a nice little hymn-like tune... That lasts for a minute, because I really need to do more to make longer, worthwhile tracks.

This just started off as something where I was playing with some new sounds I got during the sales after the holiday... And it just so happened that I got all these new big, loud, and powerful sounds just right as the official release of World of Warcraft's latest expansion came out, Dragonflight. And because I told everyone I would be making cyberpunk inspired music, I totally didn't.

So the "big bads" we deal with in this expansion are protodragons who call themselves the primalists and are all about "purging the filth of order from Azeroth." Now I don't know about you, but a dragon who looks like a cross between a T-rex with the tiny arms, a disheveled parrot, and a hunchback lizard with wings that is a destructive force of nature is both the most ridiculous and most terrifying thing at the same time. Imagining one of these guys flying around or walking around as I built this music piece, looking like some rejected muppet while unleashing furious storms and wheels of flames, and it eventually gave me some direction of where the music could go.

As for the music itself, it's really built around three things; low brass, a male choir, and lots of percussion.

In regards to the brass, I felt it was just right for the cimbassi to take the main melody. If you wonder what those are, they're essentially trombones trying to be tubas (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cimbasso); they look rather goofy, but the sound is absolutely sinister and metallic in nature. For percussion, nothing really can go wrong with people banging on various bass drums, sheets of metal, a timpani, and anvil; the sounds of thunder. For the choir, well, you can't really do much for a fantasy soundtrack without a choir, and utilizing a male choir with some extra basses and baritones helps drive the "big scary dragons" idea.

Honestly for something that was thrown together in the past two days and is based on what you interpret from a video game, it isn't half bad.

Against the Protodragons

"But I'm just here to watch the documentary on parrots."

Inspired by my employer and their competitors with their bombtastic and, depending on the movie, a little over the top "Thank you for visiting our theaters" bumpers that appear before the movie, or those things to show you why visiting the Dolby Cinema or IMAX is so cool. The super comfortable recliners weren't enough? Well, this is the film industry, and I just have to get used to the spectacle.

As for the music itself, the amount of patches used I can count on my hands. It's literally just a set of orchestral sketch patches, a male and female choir, timpani, tubular bells, harp, and percussion menu (and not even the super powered percussion from the Metropolis series) that brought this to life. It was more of a test to see if I could quickly come up with an idea to a production crew or a client for a commission that was a bit more developed than "Yeah I threw this together in 30 minutes". Also it just makes it open for refinement too.

Also, the first time I made this track, it didn't sound anything like this. It was longer, had a more sinister opening, and was originally just using the choir for effects. Honestly need to try actually making longer music pieces, but I probably need to actually have a bigger "story" behind them other than a prompt.

I Make Movies Better

Just a simple cover the American folk tune "Dixie" or "Dixie's Land". It's been used everywhere, and you've probably heard it before. Commonly associated with the Southern states of the USA.

The Liberty Bell march by John P. Sousa is perhaps one of the rarest to hear marches played on the 4th of July. It might have something to do with a group of British comedians who wanted to do "something completely different" for the intro to their TV series. Either way, this MIDI arrangement will hopefully give you an idea what the rest of it sounds like past the first strain.
